I had some for my DSi, but I was wondering if the quality of the touch screen had improved since then.

There's also that issue of the top/bottom part of the 3DS scratching each other, but I don't think I'll have that problem with my XL.

I would honestly go against the advice of others saying no. the screens are not made with scratch and ding free materials...

You can easily get hori screen protectors for both screens on eBay for 4 dollars shipped. Never hurts to wear protection.

If getting a regular 3DS: Get a screen protector for top and bottom screen
If getting a 3DS XL: Bottom screen only.

I only had my xl for a month and then it got 1 scratch on it. It's on the top screen. It's not like it blurs the screen with the protectors over them.

Thanks to this guy, I ended up getting a top screen protector for my XL as well. ;)

But yeah, you can get both a top and bottom screen protector on Ebay for 2 or 3 dollars total. You may as well get both, as the bottom screen WILL get scratches eventually, and having one for the top screen just makes sense to do. They're completely unnoticeable and make protecting the screen from scratches A LOT less stressful.

You wouldn't want to regret not spending a couple extra bucks to protect your $200 device, would you?
