MK7 has been known to be region locked for local multi since it came out.
Japanese | Assume JPN Region, unless otherwise stated.

Region Lock offers no benefits to the consumer at all. The only reason to implement it in technology is to maximize profits at the expense of product quality and consumer confidence.

How does it maximize profits? If anything, region lock lowers profits. People are much more likely to import if they don't need to also import the console to play it. For games that aren't localized for NA, profits on that game are lower.

I doubt it even maximizes profits to be honest.

I live in Europe, and I imported an NA 3DS XL.
The system was cheaper to import and the games are cheaper to import.
So basically, by having to buy an NA 3DS XL instead of buying a local one, I saved money.

Yes but the casual crowd which makes up a good chunk of nintendo's userbase is too lazy/uninformed to go do that. (And before anyone takes this the wrong way, I mean parents buying their kids the system and what not, not that everyone who has a 3ds is a casual)
