I'm going to buy 999, but since it was only released in America I have to import it,
would it work on my European 3DS?

If it doesn't, no big deal, I have an old DS lite which it should work on,
but I would prefer to play it on my 3DS with the activity log and everything.

Bonus Question: Can I completely erase the files on a used version of VLR? (Not 999)
Or am I stuck with someone else's file?
If there is one thing I have learned from years of watching cartoons as a kid, its that you don't F*** with Shamans >:D

DS games (some DS games with DSi enable features may not) will work. Only thing that is locked is DSi games and of course, 3DS. You should have no problem unless the game cart you buy turns out to be fake.

999 will work, I have a European 3DS too. Not sure about erasing save files on VLR try asking on the game boards there.

You can erase everything on VLR, too.

When you start up VLR the main menu says "Continue", "Start From Beginning" and "Erase Save File Data", or stuff along those lines. it's easy to erase VLR data; 999 requires a button combo rather than a simple menu selection.

And yeah, DS games are mostly region free and they will work on the 3DS; 3DS games or DSi games that are region locked will not. I can play my American copy of 999 on my Australia (PAL) 3DS just fine.
Best console war summary ever. TL;DR version at 2:05.

You mean I CAN play the Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan games on my American 3DS? For some reason I assumed that 2DS games were region-locked as well, but I guess there was no reason to do that when that system was region-free.

(really, there's still no reason to region-lock, but let's not go there)

yes it will work unless the game has DSi enable features
