I tried the monster hunter board but no reply. How hard will this game be on 3ds xl without the extra stick? I'm thinking of renting both verisons for co op but its my first monster hunter game. Opinions?

There's a few different ways to use the camera.

New to 3U is the auto lock on, where you tap L and the camera will automatically turn to face the monsters.
Also you can customize the touch screen completely which includes a virtual D-pad which can be positioned and resized anywhere on the screen.

First. MH isn't a game you rent, because if you like it, you'll literally spend hundreds of hours playing it. Well, its good to rent if you just want to try it out, but if you like it, you'll want to buy it.

Second, everyone says the game plays completely fine without the second analog. Theres a resizeable virtual d-pad you can use, or you can use the L button to keep your camera on the monster. It automatically faces the monster when you press L, but its by no means "lock on".
