If the pixels are that noticeable for you and bothers you, get the 3DS. If you want a little extra portability, but a smaller screen, get the 3DS.

If you can ignore the pixels or they don't bother you so much and you want the bigger screens, and a bit better battery life and have parachute pants or carry a bag often, 3DS XL.

I can't tolerate the pixels on the XL either. It messes with my eyes big time. A regular 3DS for me all the way. :)

For 1st timers yes the pixel will bother you a tad lil if you compare it with the normal 3DS. But once u have it for few weeks and beyond, you'll get used to it and the huge screens make games more immersive TBH.

Not necessarily true for everyone. For most people, that might be true, but for us older gamers (30, 40+) it's not that simple. My eyes are getting more and more touchy to everything and there's no improvement in sight.

Also, not everyone finds the bigger screen "more immersive" or better. I've always been happy with the smaller screen and have no interest in a bigger one. It's all personal preference.

The original 3DS has better speakers and a higher PPI (this is what results in that "sharper image")

XL has a larger screen and better buttons, but you sacrifice image quality for image size.

Personally I prefer the original, but I understand the argument for XL...

XL is suppose to have better battery life over the normal 3ds.
