Bought a brand new 3DS XL on Sunday. Comparing it to my regular 3DS. I notice the more yellowish tint. I even get the faint crackling sound when playing Saria's Song. Are these just how XLs are made or does this make my handheld inferior? ):

A lot of people mentioned this when the XL came out last year but it seems the complaints have died down. Some people said the tint went away after a few days.

I personally don't recall either of my XLs having a yellow tint.

The yellow tint is the Power Saver Mode that you turned on in the brightness settings.

I sure hope you are right about this. It would be really tough to replace a Pikachu XL by this point. There is a difference when the 3DS and the 3DSXL are next to each other. I was actually perfectly happy with my XL until I saw a topic on "yellow tints" and now I think I am just seeing things due to just the suggestion of it. Both the 3D screen and touch screen seem to match each other perfectly but if you say a small amount of tint in XLs is normal, than I will try to relax. Thank god it doesn't have any dead pixels o:

I never really noticed a yellow tint on my XL, but I can back you with the speakers crackling whilst playing Saria's Song on OOT. I didn't think that was normal, but now I know it's not just me. :P

If a bad condition turns out to be normal, why the hell do you consider that a relief? If anything that'd be a major problem with the quality of the XLs compared to the originals.
My launch blue 3DS has no yellow tinting :P

If everybody in the world broke their legs, would you say "Good, it's normal to have broken legs"?

Most XLs seem to have the yellow tint, and yeah, even with power save off it still is more yellow. I bought an XL for me and one for my son, and I lucked out but his is yellowish. I had the same problem with the Zelda 3DS I bought, it looked really yellow compared to my launch black one, couldn't stand it.

It's not noticeable most of the time though, but it's something that's in the back of my mind and bugs me, especially in the system UI where it's really obvious.

Because nothings wrong with his system, the XL has a few trade offs and slightly lower build quality but he now doesnt have to debate with himself on returning/exchanging etc which is a relief :).
