Except Mario World, that game is perfect. I played SML3D and beat the first 8 worlds but never really enjoyed it, I pre ordered and bought LM2 and honestly I'm forcing my way through, I also got MH3U, EOIV and FEA recently and I just can't put it up there with those games.
Anyone feels the same?

I'm 24 and I've been playing Mario games since I was a kid. I've loved nearly all of them and there are only a few I haven't played. (Sunshine, galaxy1/2) I can't really say there's any particular game that marks the decline of the series, but it has obviously gotten worse. (Probably just due to Mario fatigue)
I haven't really liked any of the ones where you move in 3D -- found it a bit wishy washy trying to tell the depth in 3D Land, and I hated the way the camera angle would change on you in Galaxy. I liked New SMB 2, and I'm liking New SMB U though.
I have played every Super Mario game since the NES days. Those NES/SNES games were my childhood. But, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are on par with how good SMB3 and SMW were back in the day. Super Mario 3D Land is also better than SML and SML2 as far as handheld installments go.
And Super Mario 64 was simply mind blowing when it came out. Everyone who was into games back then was floored by it. So no...I don't think the series is on decline since SMW at all.
