My parents bought me the original Gameboy with Tetris when it came out. Also had Super Mario land or whatever for a while.

I had a game & Watch thing back in the day...the one with the DS clam design i think but more square.

Anyways I don't remember too much other than I really liked it.

After that I played my friends Gameboy....not sure about which game, possibly tetris and thought it was ok but I didn't like the lack of colors so I wasn't into it that much.

Had a Gamegear for a couple years also and at the time I thought it was much better than the gameboy.

Back in the late 90s Pokemon was incredibly popular. I liked the TV show so I decided to get the game. I got Pokemon Red and a Gameboy Color for my 12th birthday. Ever since I got a GBA, DS, and now the 3DS. I started to get into handheld gaming a bit more with the GBA. The DS and PSP made me appreciate it even more. Now with the 3DS I just prefer handheld gaming in general.

I don't remember but I first played on either the Gameboy Color or Gameboy Advance (the long purple one) and played Pokemon Gold or Yellow. My memory is really fuzzy but yeah those were the games I remembered. I than got the flip Game Boy and played Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire,Leaf Green, Fire Red, I would also play Megaman,Yu-Gi-Oh,Sonic,Mario Kart, and some other games. I'd alternate from the Gameboy,N64,PS1,PS2, moved onto the DS with Diamond, and also played Drawn to Life, the new Megaman,Final Fantasy, etc. Though I than quit for a very very long time and went to computer gaming and PS3,and than PS Vita than soon to be 3DS

My first brush with handhelds: I recall getting the GBA and a link cable for the GCN Animal Crossing, so I could have access to the Island, but really didn't get any games for it then because I couldn't see the screen that well. I then got a Gameboy Player for the GCN (so I could see the games on a larger screen), but ended up only getting the GBC Zelda Oracles games, and GBA Zelda: Minish Cap, and a couple of cheap card/puzzle games.

My main introduction to handheld gaming was the DS Lite. I saw Animal Crossing: Wild World and had to play it. Then there was the Professor Layton games, of which I own two, and have played most of the rest, and all the other interesting games there are for the DS. Now I have a 3DS and am waiting for the new AC.
Currently waiting for:
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (June 9th!!)

I was really into those Tiger Electronics handheld games when I was very young. I remember having a Dinosaur/Caveman one, a Power Rangers one, and a Beauty and the Beast one.

I even had a Tiger R-Zone system before I finally got my hands on a Sega Game Gear.
