I still prefer books to games.

It did for me. Between books and video games I did a lot of reading.

I guess so. I don't like reading books, and during my school life I spent all my time avoiding to do homework than actually doing them.

Doesn't help me now, though.
Competitive gaming is a joke.

Definitely, though I already knew how to read. Video games just strengthened my vocabulary and reading comprehension. I remember using "rendezvous" in my second grade class and my teacher was so impressed.

Tought me math in racing games

"Okay, racer 1 is 5 miles ahead of me. his max speed is 70 mph and mine is 90 mph and we're on the highway now and the race ends in 10 miles ahead of me, do i have time to catch up or should i throw my game console out the window now?"

Nah. I didn't really get in to games until after I already knew how to read.

No. I learned to read through books. I didn't even get a video game console until I was 8 and didn't start playing games with lots of reading until high school. On the other hand ever since I was six, I've loved reading books more than almost anything else.
