Paper Mario ended at a score of 8.51 when I closed the poll at 143 voters, or a score of 8.78 if you ignore the 5 "1/10" votes.

Superstar Saga is currently at a score of 8.92 at 178 voters.
More villains need to be protagonists. BIS proves it can work.
Ridley, Ganondorf, Fawful, Bowser, and Dimentio all for their own games!

This is easily the best of the Mario RPGs, IMO, but not having any sort of fast-travel system made backtracking a humongous pain in the ass.

While a very good game that improves on its predecessor in many ways, it suffers from one big flaw, in my opinion: Backtracking. Good lord, the backtracking in this game is ridiculous, and extremely noticeable on subsequent playthroughs. It's not even a matter of backtracking to an area you tackled a couple of chapters ago -- it's backtracking through the same area over and over again during a chapter. Heck, even between chapters, you're forced to visit the Thousand-Year Door each time.

Other than that gripe though, the dialogue is well-written, entertaining and funny; the battle system is simple to grasp but has some nice nuances and is quite fun; the soundtrack and visuals are great; and there are lots of unique and interesting situations and locales in the game that give it a lot of charm.

A great game, pretty good RPG with really nice dialogue and characters(except Flurry I guess), would have got a 9/10 from me if it wasn't for the backtracking, it was so tedious and is one of the games that quickly makes you see why other RPG's without a world map implement quick travel(or Fly in Pokémon).

Where's the 11/10 option?
Why are you NOT listening to White Skies when you could be listening to White Skies?!
