I haven't gotten any screen scratching. Then again, i'm one of the smart people to put a screen protector on. My silicone case wraps around buttons, and it does leave marks on the 3DS matte-textured plastic.

I have no protectors on both 3DS's and I don't have this scratch issue
PS+ has paid it's self for me. So from here on out I will refer to any new games as free.

I'm pretty certain that it happens as a result of people putting them in their pockets when wearing clothes that aren't loose. If you don't do that, it probably will never be an issue (at least on the XL).

Yeah, it happens to mine too, but I'm thinking it's does so because of the extra thickness of the screen protector. Still not gonna take a chance without one though.

Clean your screen often and clean the bottom part where it seems to be touching regularly. I usually clean the top screen with a nintendo cleaning cloth and wipe the frame of the bottom screen with my fingers.

Im thinking the screens are so close when the system is closed, that even tiny dust particles on the bottom screen frame will cause contact between the surfaces.

screen protectors are pretty important.

I use the bottom screen pretty often, so I had one. The bottom screen protector does have scratch marks, which I think is due to the games and not really from the screens scratching each other.

It happened to me as well. It was still under warranty, but Nintendo still tried to charge me a $100 to fix it. I'll get a new system before I pay that much. That's crazy.
