Ok, guys, I'm in a seriously big trouble with my 3DS. It just happened to me just this morning and I need to know why it happened.

Before that, I had a bit of a problem with the R-shoulder button, since it was unresponsive when I pressed on it, until I tried blowing it to make it work for a while. By then, I was getting annoyed that I always have to blow the R-button to make it work, and that it wont respond after a while. So I tried everything, blowing really hard on it, using a toothbrush to get rid of the dust that might have caused the problem, anything to get rid of this annoying problem.

Then, I went and screwed everything up.

The notification light suddenly glowed red. No, it's not flashing red because the battery is completely full. I mean, it's glowing and staying red. Afterwards, I find that I couldn't use the R-button anymore, and in fact, the input somehow got stuck because the 3DS always takes me to the Photo mode even when I'm not touching any of the shoulder buttons. And when I'm playing Mii Plaza, it feels as if the game recognized that I'm holding the R-button even when I'm not, because everything is going so fast. I believed that the red glowing light indicates that I busted the R-button.

After a while, though, the notification light somehow glowed purple. I don't know why, it just happened to glow purple. Even then, I still can't use the R-button anymore. I really screwed everything up at this point.

So all I want to ask is this: Does anyone know what the purple light means? If so, should I be prepared for the worst? I am going to try and send it to Nintendo to get my 3DS fixed, but I think I'll wait for a little bit until I play and finish the new Phoenix Wright game which comes out tomorrow. But at any case, can someone help me with that?

Does anyone know what the purple light means?

There is no purple light. There's only blue, red, green and the orange charging light.

It seems the R button is permanently pressed. The purple light means the camera is on(which is probably why you are taken to the camera without pressing anything) But the notification light shouldn't be turning purple(the purple light should be shining next to the outer cameras). I don't know what the red light mean though.
When I get double vision, I just close one eye and I am all better!

So in other words, my 3DS is busted. *sigh* This is gonna be a pain to deal with.

Also, I kinda overlooked something about the purple light. The light isn't glowing purple. I think it's glowing red and blue at the same time, which is, to my sincere knowledge, shouldn't be possible. But it happened.

This is what I was going to say, concerning the "purple" light. Something else may be up with the battery, or charging port, causing it to flash blue and red.

*Fun fact*

The energy you collect on Metroid(NES) does this very thing, appearing to be purple when it's just red and blue.

Is your 3DS still under warranty?

No, I had my 3DS for two years now, so I'm gonna have to pay for the repairs. I don't know how much it costs, but I think I'll manage.
