I just bought a 3DS from them and it had the latest firmware. Anyone know if they keep them updated or was it just this one?

The firmware that just released this week? Maybe somebody updated just before trading it in. I don't think it would be worth the time to have an employee go through and update all the used 3DS in the store, but maybe someone was extremely bored.

They may have bought a new console and took it home and did a system transfer, then traded the old console in (the one you bought). The old console would have had to be on the current firmware for the system transfer to go through.

That, and I highly doubt the lazy Gamestop employees take those consoles out of the display cases and update them. Heck, the stores don't even have good WIFI to begin with. They won't let you connect to do a transfer right there in the store if you wanna trade your old 3ds in.

Why would they pay minimum wage employees to do this for no extra profit to them? Of course they don't update all systems in stock. The only ones to get updated are the ones they refurbish. It is a waste of their time to otherwise check on systems that have already been taken in and run updates.

Just went back and got a different 3DS and this one was updated to 11.5 too! Those bastards must keep the wifi on so it auto-updates.

The newest firmware is Ver. 11.6.0-39U. That's what I have on my N3DS right now. So 11.5 is not the newest firmware, but is apparently too updated for your purposes.

No 3DS auto-updates. They download the update in sleep mode when connected to the internet, and then prompt you to install it, but you aren't forced to install it. Most likely the used ones were updated by previous owners. If you want 11.3 or older, you should try asking other sellers and have them provide a screenshot.

I thought they were required to updates systems or something. Anyway I doubt you'll get what you're looking for from Gamestop. Try a pawn shop or something.
