Is it worth the extra money for the 3ds version. Or is it better to pay less money for an hd version?

None as far as I know, unless you really like your buttons.

Though honestly I don't like either. They 'touched up' the models and the text and it ends up looking pretty weird and kind of 'cheap' in a way? Like everything has less quality somehow?

In any case, I'd pick the DS versions over those any day.

The iOS version of the Ace Attorney trilogy was messed up something fierce. Apparently the music in Justice for All was from the GBA version, rather than the DS. Characters sometimes had different themes play, general hitbox issues when pointing stuff out, etc. Kind of a mess, which was all fixed for the later 3DS version.

Haven't played the iOS port of Apollo Justice, but this is mainly for the people that want all of the main series games for 3DS, and for those that prefer the more traditional controls over pure touchscreen controls. It's up to you, really. I've not heard anything about Apollo Justice iOS being an absolute catastrophe, like the trilogy was, so in this case, it's mostly personal preference, as opposed to one being better than the other.

You don't have to be online constantly to play the 3DS versions of the game.

Yes, it is.
I have tried that without online for AJ. Didn't work. It's like this because they sell you the game in pieces on iOS.
