I cannot think of a single RPG squenix have produced since the merger that I would consider anywhere near classic status. FFXII was decent, but I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. FFXIII was a slap in the face for fans. I'm not adverse to change, I gave it a chance, but the game literally made me depressed.
I can only think of one: The World Ends With You.
Some would say that you could make an argument for Crisis Core, but I'm inclined to agree.
Also, the worst part of it is that they're declining even further. The playerbase has been telling exactly what they need to do to take our money. Type-0 localization, Kingdom Hearts 3, TWEWY 2, and/or Versus XIII, but SE feels it more prundent to give us garbage like Lightning Returns, unending Kingdom Hearts spinoffs, and the biggest insult in the history of gaming Final Fantasy: All the Bravest.
It's past the point where it's getting sad, at this point it's just becoming scary.
