"Excellent Shooter, well worth the 20$ price tag"

Can anyone dislike this game? I haven't had this much fun with a shooter since Galactic Attack on Saturn. With a price tag at only 20 bucks, and easily the best shooter on the Dreamcast, it's an irresistible deal to pass up. So, pick up this game, and get ready for some frenetic shooting action.

I didn't really follow the story in this game, mainly because it's a shooter, and most shooters don't really have a great story, this one included. Mainly, there is a colony on Mars that is rebelling, all hell breaks loose, etc...

The gameplay is what makes this game, the classic 2-D overhead shooter. You gain control of one of two ships, and play through levels blasting your enemies and dodging their fire. The game is VERY HARD and extremely intense, you must constantly dodge enemy fire to survive.

You must also use a special technique that your ship has in which it absorbs the enemy's fire are reflects it back at the enemy. This is very useful in the game and you must use it, or else the game is practically impossible.

Also what is cool about Mars Matrix is the RPG elements in it. Every enemy you kill, small cubes appear. These cubes are experience points, and after you gain a certain number of experience points, your ship gains a level and becomes stronger.

The game also features a shop. Here, you can buy more powerful weapons for your ships, more lives, continues, etc...

Also what is good here is the amount of replay value. Most shooters aren't very lengthy and can be beaten fully in about a half hour. Mars Matrix has 3 modes of gameplay that each require time and patience. In order to pass each mode, you must upgrade at the shop and gain levels for your ship. You'll be playing this game for quite a while.

The graphics in Mars Matrix are your average shooter graphics. Nothing here is spectacular, but it doesn’t really matter. The graphics are fine, and will only be ragged on by non-shooter fans.

The only thing I really didn't like about Mars Matrix is the sound. The music is just average. Instead of using cool techno tracks found in the Mega Man games, Capcom just used some boring, uninspired techno tracks. This was a little disappointing, but it didn't take away from the awesome gameplay experience.

So, In all, Mars Matrix is an excellent shooter. Any shooter fan will be in heaven with this game. This is easily one of the best, most challenging ones I've ever played, and is extremely addicting. There is also a 2 player mode, so you and a friend can both join the frenetic shooting action. So, for a measly 20 bucks, you can have an excellent shooter to play on your DC.
