    Hello, folks.  This is a strategy guide for the Midway arcade boxer,
    Ready 2 Rumble : Round 2 for the Sega Dreamcast.  This guide focuses
    on Selene Strike, my favorite boxer in the bunch.  I'm going to tell
    you about the basics, Selenes' moves, and strategy on how to win with

    Control Key - Dreamcast Default 
    u  -  up
    d  -  down
    f  -  forward
    b  -  back
    df -  diagonal down and forward
    uf -  diagonal up and forward
    HL -  High Left  (Button X)
    HR -  High Right (Button Y)
    LL -  Low Left   (Button A) 
    LR -  Low Right  (Button B)
    HB -  High Block (Trigger R)
    LB -  Low Block  (Trigger L)
    Rumble Basics
    Here, I'll describe the moves basic to every boxer.
    Jab        - press HL.
    Lunge Jab  - hold f, press HL.
    Straight   - press HR.
    Lunge      - hold f, press HR.
    Overhand   - hold b, press HR.
    High Hook  - hold u or d, press HL or HR.
    Uppercut   - hold df or uf, press HL or HR.
    Body Blow  - press LL or LR.
    Lunge Body - hold f, press LL or LR.
    Low Hook   - hold u or d, press LL or LR.
    High Block  - hold Trigger R.
    Low Block   - hold Trigger L.
    Ducking     - during Low Block, hold f.
    Sway Motion - during High Block, hold u, d or b to sway in those
    Jump Motion - during Low Block, hold u, d or b to jump in those
    Each boxer has four taunts.  These are done with the following
     button combinations.
    HL + LL
    HR + LR
    HL + LR
    HR + LL
    Strength and Stamina
    There are two bars next to the portrait of your selected fighter,
     the strength bar, and your stamina bar.  The strength bar is the
     multi colored bar on top, and the solid blue bar below that is
     your stamina bar.  The strength bar decreases when you are hit,
     and when it is fully drained, you will be knocked down.  Quickly
     rotate the analog stick and press all the punch buttons to gain
     strength.  You'll get back to your feet when the stamina bar is
    The stamina bar determines how many punches you can throw before
     needing to rest.  As long as you have stamina you can throw a
     punch.  When it is drained, your punches come out at a slow rate.
     Stop throwing punches to regain stamina.  Also, when you are hit,
     stamina is decreased as well.
    Rumble Power
    As you hit your opponent, letters will appear under your boxers'
     picture at the bottom of the screen.  These letters spell out
     "R-U-M-B-L-E".  You can build this up to three times, going
     from yellow letters, to red letters, and finally smoking white
     letters.  A new feature added to R2R is that taunting adds
     letters as well. 
    To activate Rumble Power, you must spell out RUMBLE at least
     once.  Then you have to press both HB and LB at the same time.
     After this, your boxers' hands will begin to glow.  During this
     time, you have unlimited stamina and increased speed, but it is
     short, so don't waste it.  When you activate Rumble Power, ALL
     letters are used.
    To start your Rumble Flurry, press HL and HR at the same time
     during Rumble Power.  The flurry depends on the amount of
     letters built up before activating Rumble Power.  A Level
     1 Rumble Flurry uses yellow letters, a Level 2 Rumble Flurry
     uses red letters, and a Level 3 Rumble Flurry uses white
    A Level 3 Rumble Flurry results in an instant knockout if
     it connects.
    If you are knocked down, you will lose a level of Rumble
     Power.  This also occurs at the end of each round.
    New to R2R is a parrying feature.  With this you can intercept your
     opponent's punches and leave them open for a counter attack.  What
     happens with parrying is that your opponent must hit your boxer's
     parrying motion to leave them open.  Timing and practice are
     essential in doing this properly.
    High Parry  - quickly tap HB twice.  Parries high punches only.
    Low Parry   - quickly tap LB twice.  Parries low punches only.
    Selenes' Bio and Stats

    Selene is making a comeback after suffering a severe blow to her
     self confidence.  In a fight with Mama Tua, Selene assumed that
     she would dominate the match.  Turned out to be the other way
     around.  Now after some intense training with fellow diva Lulu
     Valentine, Selene is back with more skill and confidence than
     ever before.
    Selenes' Outfits
    To change your fighter's default outfit, place the selector icon on
     your fighter, and press X.
    Release Champion Outfits for your fighter by beating the game in
     Championship Mode with the fighter selected.
    When the internal Dreamcast calendar reaches certain holidays,
     Holiday Outfits are available to select boxers.
    Outfit 1   - Red shirt, red and black skirt, white boots.
    Outfit 2   - White shirt, green and black skirt, brown boots.
    Champion 1 - Full body black and red spandex suit.
    Champion 2 - Full body purple and pink spandex suit.
    Holiday    - Christmas Day.  Green, red and white elf outfit.
    Selenes' Standard Punches
    This is a description of all the basic punches that Selene has.  I've
     arranged them by the punches described in the Rumble Basics section.
    Jab        - A quick jab.  Good range for hitting opponents at a
                   distance.  A good setup for her power punches.
    Lunge Jab  - Better range, but it takes a little longer to come
                   out.  Can't follow up her power punches as well as
                   her regular jab though.
    Straight   - Comes out a little slower than her jab.  It hits
                   harder, but the range is shorter.  It's a little
                   telegraphed because she leads her left hand before
                   throwing it.
    Lunge      - Has better range, but like the regular straight, it's 
     Straight      telegraphed from Selene leading with her left.
    Overhand   - Selene throws an overhand with a HUGE arc.  You can see
     Right         this one coming a mile away.  However, the range is
                   pretty good on it.
    High Hook  - The HL version is the better one to throw.  The HR
                   version comes out much slower.
    Uppercut   - They're both pretty slow, but the HL version has a
                   longer range than the HR version.
    Body Blow  - The LL version is the better one.  It has a longer
                   range than the LR version, and it comes out just
                   as fast as her regular jab.
    Lunge Body - Good range on both versions of these punches, but 
     Blow          the speed is slow.  The LL version has Selene
                   ducking low before throwing the punch.  This is
                   good for incoming high attacks.  You can hit the
                   opponent as their attack goes over your head.
                   The LR version is telegraphed from Selene leading
                   with her left.
    Low Hook   - With the LR version, Selene dips the upper half of
                   her body before throwing it.  Use this as you
                   would a LL lunging body blow to counter against
                   most incoming high attacks.  With the LL version,
                   Selene doesn't dip as low.
    Selenes' Special Attacks
    Here, I'll describe Selenes' special punches, and its advantages
     and disadvantages. A (+) is an advantage, and a (-) is a
    Special Attack #1  -  f, f + HR
    Selene lunges forward with a quick wide arcing uppercut.
       (+) Can surprise opponents since it comes out pretty fast.
       (+) Has good range on it.
       (-) She needs a little time to recover if blocked or missed.
    Special Attack #2  -  b, f + LR
    Selene swings a low backhand to the opponents' body.
       (+) This attack has great range.  Best used from a distance.
       (-) If you do it too close to an opponent, and it's blocked,
            you'll be open to a counter attack.
    Special Attack #3  -  b, b + HR
    Selene clubs the top of the opponents' head.
       (+) If it hits, the opponent is backed off a bit.
       (-) Very short ranged.
    Selenes' Combos
    These are Selenes' combos in the game.  Do each command one after
      the other quickly to get the punches off correctly.
    Combo #1 : HL - LR - LL
    A jab followed by two regular body blows.  This is Selenes'
     best basic combo.  It's pretty safe since there isn't a
     lot of time Selene needs to recover if blocked, unless it's
    Combo #2 : f, f + HR - LR - HL
    Selenes' rushing uppercut followed by her sweeping backhand
     finished with an uppercut.  Not as safe as Combo #1, but
     if the last punch connects, the opponent is backed off.  If
     the last shot is blocked, Selene's open to a counter.
    Combo #3 : b, b + HR - HR - HR
    Selenes' clubbing right followed by a straight and finished
     with an uppercut.  This is not a good combo unless the
     opponent is in a corner.  The range is really short on this
    Selenes' Taunts
    These are Selenes' taunts.  I'll describe what she does for each
     one, and how many letters it gives you.
    HL + LL
    Selene does a somersault.  The moment she lands, she gets one letter.
    HR + LR
    Selene gestures with both hands while saying : "Think twice before
     you strike".  If she finishes the taunt, she'll get two letters.
    HL + LR
    Selene poses and says : "Take a good look".  If she finishes, she
     gets three letters.
    HR + LL
    Selene raises her arms, swivels her hips and says : "Shake it honey".
     If she finishes, she gets one letter.
    Overall Strategy
    Selene isn't about power, she's about range and finesse.  So with
     that in mind, you have to use her speed and range to your advantage.
     Personally, I don't like to get too close to anyone with Selene.  Her
     best punches are better used from a distance anyway.  The best way
     to use her is to patiently pick away your opponents' energy with
     her ranged attacks.  The only time I close in with Selene is when
     I have Rumble Power activated, and even then that's risky.
