Ever wondered what it's like being a Pokemon Ranger?
Normally, you just play as a Pokemon trainer, and you battle someone called a Pokemon Ranger. This game lets you find out what it's like in a Pokemon Ranger's shoes.
The plot is well-thought out, unlike other Pokemon games. You receive a Minun (Plusle if you are a girl) at the start of your adventure, and you can make other Pokemon friends too. At the end of the second sub-mission, the plot makes a huge twist. I won't spoil it, but it really adds to the game.
This game lets you capture Pokemon, but Pokeballs don't exist in Fiore. Instead, you use the Capture Styler! Using it is easy. Just draw circles around the targeted Pokemon and release when a plus sign appears next to the number. And, you can use captured Pokemon to help you out in a pinch. For instance, Electabuzz can recharge your Capture Styler, and Gardevoir can cause Pokemon to helplessly levitate in the air, making it easier to capture them. Unfortunately, without a stylus, this game is practically impossible, because using something else can wreck your touch screen. And must I tell you how much your fellow ranger (Solana if male, Lunick if female) nags at you to capture a certain Pokemon or do something you don't want to do? And unfortunately, only 213 of 386 Pokemon are in the game, so one of your favourites probably isn't in the game. And, the game is quite short, and the only missions you can replay are in the Ranger Net, and only three of those missions can be replayed.
Meh. They aren't anything special. There STILL isn't any actual voices for characters, and all Pokemon say are their cries, which get pretty repetitive after a while.
The graphics aren't anything special either. They're just standard Pokemon graphics, and they may be colourful, but it just feels like something is missing, and unfortunately, it feels like something important.
Final Score: 7/10
Overall: This is a fantastic game, but it is quite short. However, you can unlock a special mission that lets you receive a Manaphy egg that can be transferred to Diamond/Pearl. But before you leave (and to help show you this game's replay value), I challenge you. Can you beat my Capture Arena record of 175,400 points!?
Rating: 3.5 - Good
