Bracket entries are now open! Enter now for a chance to win!

We've asked our users to decide the Best. Game. Ever., the greatest game characters, the most enjoyable villains, the top series, and the toughest rivalries. What else is there?

Starting on May 1st, we'll have the users of GameFAQs decide which year has been the best so far, at least as far as video games are concerned. We've taken all the years from 1985 (the year the Nintendo Entertainment System came out in the US) to 2016 (because 2017 isn't over yet), and added in four wildcard years (1978, 1979, 1981, and 1983). Those 36 years will be paired off in a single-elimination tournament to see which is truly the Best Year in Gaming so far.

Your job, as always, is to determine the winner of each of the 35 battles that make up the tournament bracket. Each correct pick earns points, and the point value of each round doubles after the first full one.

If you live in the United States or Canada (void where applicable), you can submit an Official Entry into the contest, and the brackets with the most points can win the following prizes:

  • Grand Prize: $1000 gift certificate
  • Second Place: $500 gift certificate
  • Third Place: $250 gift certificate
  • Fourth Place: $150 gift certificate
  • Fifth-Tenth Place: $100 gift certificate

If you can't enter an Official Entry, you can always enter just for fun, and get your name onto the leaderboard. We'll award Badges and Bonus karma for Fun Entries (as well as Official Entries), so there's always a reason to try your luck!
