"You don't mess with these guys..."
You don't bother a pikmin. You don't even get in their way, or they will swarm you. They will eat your skin as you try to flick them off. You kill about 5, but the other 95 will give you a painful death as your pie-chart health meter goes from red to black. Then they carry your corpse back to their mothership to make MORE of those demons. Ladies and gentlemen, Pikmin 2, possibly the best strategy game ever, has landed.
This is actually very pretty. The motion blur from Pikmin is gone now, and the enemies are really nice. The character expressions are hilarious, and the fights between Pikmin in multiplayer look crazier than a riot after a football (soccor) match. Each and every pikmin is animated well, and one could take every pikmin and say which type it is, even if they were all the same colour.
Nice cartoony sounds. Like i n nearly every Nintendo game, when the characters speak, it sounds like utter gibberish. The text sound does get kind of annoying, but besides that, the sound is ace.
The meat of the game is priceless. The single player game is massive, with even its simplest puzzles confusing. The bosses require thinking, and you will try to save each an every pikmin in the caves. You will always be going back to old areas with new pikmin, trying to get farther in the level. The multiplayer is fantastic, screaming at your friend if he has your marble, or getting one of the opponent's pikmin on your face as you start cracking up. The arenas are very well done, especially the Angle Maze.
Get this game. I don't care if you don't have a TV, let alone a GC. You WILL get this game at all costs.
This or the Original?
Lets look at the facts: This has genius multiplayer. The original has no multiplayer. This has five types of pikmin. Pikmin has three. This has no time limit and is longer. The original has a time limit.
"This or the original" isn't really a question, is it?
