"Final Fantasy VI Remastered for the GBA"

Final Fantasy is arguably one of the most successful game franchises of all time, and Final Fantasy VI is considered by many, to be not only the best Final Fantasy or RPG ever made, but also one of the greatest games of all time. For those of you that don't know, Final Fantasy VI is a traditional turned-based RPG that follows the story of a girl named Terra, who was once in the Empire. It is believed that the Empire wants to re-start the war of the Magi, and use Terra as a means of getting what they need in order to accomplish their goal.

Final Fantasy VI is the first Final Fantasy that lets you switch your party members, and with that being said, there are a LOT of party members in this game. Each character has his or her own role in the story and is unique in combat as well. Each character has their own set of specific abilities they can use, for example Sabin can Blitz, and Edgar can use his Tools command on foes. Later on, you get the opportunity to summon espers into battle to aid your allies. Espers can be equipped (only one at a time), and you earn AP after a battle, which is used to learn magic spells. Each esper has a set of magic spells, so whatever esper a character has equipped, they will learn that espers' spells. Also, some espers have bonus stats on them you can learn when you level up with them equipped, such as HP + 10% and so on.

The GBA port of the game has some nice additions to it. For one, there are now character portraits for each character in the dialogue sequences, and most of the places and spells have received new names. The translation is a little bit tighter, and the remixed music, though not always faithful to the original game, is still pretty good. As always for the GBA ports, a bonus dungeon was added to the game, as well as a bestiary and a music player that you unlock when you beat the game.

That being said, this will be the last major game for the GBA, so if you haven't used the system in a while, this game is a great reason to dig it back out and use it again. If you are a Final Fantasy fan that has not played Final Fantasy VI before, or just an RPG fan in general, this game is a must-have if you own a GBA or a DS. This game is near-perfect with very little to no flaws. The only flaw I could possibly point out with the game is that once the story reaches its high point, not much happens after that. Also, a lot of the times, you are forced to split your party up and control a certain set of people, which makes the game feel like everyone is the main character and not really Terra. It has great story telling, interesting characters, good graphics for back in the day, and an excellent soundtrack. There is almost no better way to say goodbye to a system, than with one of the greatest games ever made.
