Review by BrainDog

"What a GREAT sequel, it takes everything that made the original great and expands on them."

You are a fledgling pokemon trainer looking to fulfill your pokemon destiny and become a pokemon master. Sounds a lot like the original right? Though the begin story maybe the same, that is where the similarities end. This is game is a whole lot more in-depth with many new pokemon, new trainers, new gyms, and even a new rival.

Graphics 8/10- Graphical this game is a lot like the originals. Accept for this game is now formatted to play in full color, which is a huge bonus! Also the pokemon on the battle screens are much more crisp and clear than they where in the originals. There are many, many new battle animations. All the pokemon have new pictures for them, which is neat.

Sound 7/10- the tunes in this game are relatively new. The music is catchy, especially with the lucky number radio, but like any repeating music it gets old quickly. You will probably end up turning down the volume when you play this game for a while. The sound effects are pretty basic. There is nothing fancy about the sound effects at all.

Game play 10/10- the pokegear helps to organize some of the neatest functions in the game like the cell phone, and radio. The backpack is great for organizing all your items by storing them in different pockets depending on what kind of item they are. The battle menus are once again easy to navigate through. One of the biggest improvements over the last game is the in-game clock. You enter the time of day when you first start the game and the events in the game happen according to what time of day or night it is. There are contests on certain days, berries grow back on trees after a day, and a lot other cool stuff happens.

Difficulty 5/10- Pokemon has never been a very difficult game, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun. They are a lot like some of the early NES RPGs; you walk around building up levels then challenge a boss or something to that nature. But in this game there are many side quests to keep you occupied, so there is no shortage of things to do.

Fun 10/10- This game is fun. Make no mistake it is fun. This is a great follow up to a great game. It is a must buy for any one who wants to add another classic game to their game boy library.
