The letters of "Color" in the logo for GameBoy Color are all different colors, representing the five colors the system was originally offered in.
The GameBoy Color was the first handheld to feature wireless communication, which was done by an infrared port on the top of the console. (This feature was not seen again in Nintendo's consoles until select DS games used them, and then the 3DS.)
The GameBoy Color was the first handheld console by Nintendo to make use of motion controls, as seen in Kirby's Tilt-and-Tumble.
