"A lot of fun to play."
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is pretty much just an upgraded version of its predecessor. It contains more levels, skaters, etc.
The controls for this game are easy to master and learn, and they fit almost perfectly in. The trick buttons are easy to learn. You can even change the button combination for tricks, if you wish.
The gameplay is smooth, and it is easy to maneuver your character. Also, the camera angles are great and you can easily see where you are going.
The graphics may not be the best thing about this game, but they are certainly acceptable. It will not kill you if things look a little bit blocky.
Sound Effects: 4/10
The sound effects are pretty basic and boring, but you will not really notice because the music is so dang awesome.
This game actually puts true music into it, making it a lot cooler. It is real bands playing real music (although it is remixed up a bit). It is really cool to be able to listen to Rage Against the Machine while skating around.
Some of the goals become really boring and repetitive. Also, some of the levels are a bit hard for the Tony Hawk novice. But other than that, the One-Player is awesome, complete with competitions and everything.
The multiplayer games are cool, although they could have added a few more. Tony Hawk becomes a lot more fun when you are playing with a friend than when you are playing by yourself.
Hidden Stuff: 9/10
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 has a lot of cool cheats to keep you busy while you earn them. The way to earn them is obvious, although not exactly easy, and the cheats are cool. If you cannot/don't want to earn them, there are also codes to get you the cheat in-game. Also, a lot of levels have secret areas, gaps, easy-combo places. It will keep you busy for a while as you try to find each one. Plus, the game has several secret characters and levels that are pretty cool.
Fun Level: 9.5/10
Although the one-player mode loses its fun relatively quickly, free-skating is tons of fun and you will just plain love it. You can spend hours free-skating, and you will still not get tired of it. Plus, being able to create your own skate park is a really cool option that you will have tons of fun working on.
Replay Value: 9.5/10
The one-player mode isn't really a lot of fun to play over and over, but you will have tons of fun just free-skating for a while. When this game came out, me and my friend would just sit down and free-skate for about 4 hours.
Skate Park Creation: 8/10
It is easy and simple to make a skate park. To make a good skate park takes time, of course, but it is easy to master the overall concepts of skate park creation. The only real problem with custom-skate parks is the very limited amount of space it gives you, both in size of the level and what you place in it (the fill-meter). But besides that, it is really fun to make your own skate park.
Overall Score: 9/10
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is a lot of fun to play, and it has a lot of little bonuses and extras to keep you busy for a while. And free-skate never loses its fun. The Tony Hawk series gets better with every game.
