"The game that spawned it all is surprisingly good"

Mega man was the first Mega Man game ever released, way back in 1986 for the NES by Capcom. Back then, who would have thought that a decade and a half later, the Mega Man series would become one of the most popular series ever, spanning a total of about 20 games on about 6 consoles? But the game was good, and is still decent and fun to play even today.

I still remember those ugly boss selection screens. Talk about terrible! The backgrounds of those screens were beige and terrible overall. The regular graphics in the game weren't much better, either. Oh well. good for a first effort.

The Mega man series has always been one of the best in terms of play control, and the game is no exception. Sure there are ocassional moments of frustartion, but overall the control is solid.

As in most Mega Man games, the order in which you beat the bosses is very important because after defeating a boss you gain a special weapon. Each boss is weak against a certain special weapon, making them easier to kill. Finding the order in which to beat the bosses has always been a highlight of the Mega Man series.

Mega Man has stood the test of time very well, and is one of the best first generation NES games out there. If you're a Japanese PSX owner, get the version of Mega Man just released in Japan for Playstation! otherwise, enjoy the classic NES Game itself!
