"Life? Whats a Life? Does it drop off of Karana?"

Everquest…. The word brings to mind quite a few memories, mainly because it was the only game I played for a year and a half. Founded by Verant in 1998, it became a haven for people to live out an existence of orcs, dwarves, elves, and many other creatures, many of which want to kill you for no good reason.

Gameplay: 7/10
In Everquest, you usually do one of the following things:
1. Kill monsters
2.Head into dungeons and kill monsters
3. Meet with other people and kill monsters
4. Get into large groups of people and kill very tough monsters.
As you can see, much of the game revolves around killing monsters, which proves amazingly addicting because of the large variety of “loot” you get, which ranges from anything from boots made out of slime (yuck) to sandwiches that makes you super strong (yum). However, to get anything out of it you would have to put in immense amounts of time leveling your character, thus making it not recommended to casual gamers.
There are many types of people you will meet in this gamer; I have listed the major ones below:

The kind gamer: The ones who (at least on my server) make up the bulk of the population, they play their class efficiently and often give out presents to the new players.
The idiot (a.k.a. The e-bayer): So called because of the number of people who buy high level accounts on e-bay and haven’t a clue as how to play them, they are the ones who are a level 35 druid and ask if they can get a port to the plane of hate, who are 23 and still don’t know about the other continents aside from Odus, who are the 45 warriors who can’t taunt.
The jerk: They dedicate themselves solely to ruining other people’s pleasure, they are the Player Killers (at least on the PVP servers), the loot grabber (who loots the whole group’s kills), The Killstealer (who kills other people’s mobs that they have aggro’d) and the scammer, who tricks people into giving up their money.
Finally, the “who moved my cheese?” group. These are the people who when Verant changes something, go onto the forums and complain their heads off, even if it is for the better, then the other classes moan about how they are so unbalanced and all that stuff.

Story: 4/10
A very weak area, because there is a limited amount of backstory, and most of it is told through rare GM events. However, no one really cares about the story because all people ever do is try to level up and/or get loot.

Graphics/Sound: 7/10
The Graphics are actually pretty good in the newer zones, and you can even see incredible detail in the new planes of Power zones. The Sound is about what you’d expect from such a game, nothing to write home about, but not horrible either.

Replayability: 10/10

This is where the game truly shines. There is a reason it is called “EVERquest”. There is always more to do, more mobs to kill, more loot to get, more zones to explore.

Final Recommendation: 7/10
Buy this game, your life will literally NEVER be the same. Just when you do, remember this: This game is not for those who are weak at heart, or short on free time.
