This brings back memories...

It's been a couple years since I got this game... there was a newspaper around here which sometimes offered games, and this one was one of the games which you could get in it. Being the very first first person shooter I ever tried, I didn't quite knew what to expect from it, but it is a good game, better than some games considered "classics", as Duke Nukem 3D or Doom. There is just a sad point... Since this is "2", there should be a Marathon "1", right? However, that game is only available for Macintosh...

You could think that this is just shooting everything you see on your path, right? Not quite... as soon as you start the game you will see a console, and when you interact with it you will see some part of the story and hear what your target is by then, which usually is activating a couple switches and reach a certain point of the game. Seems easy, but as you progress through the levels you will find enemies who are harder to kill, and despite that you can use whatever you want to take them one, using weapons that may vary from the single pistol (or two pistols, depending if you get another one in a certain point of the game or not...) up to a rocket launcher, coming across the useful machine-gun (well, sort of...) and many others, the best idea is always trying to find the best weapon for each situation... I doubt you would like to use a missile against a single enemy, which could be defeated with a single gun shot, right? However, sometimes there are problems... sometimes you know exactly where you need to go, but you can't reach it, and perhaps you will get lost in that level for a lot of time, which turns out being boring and prevent you from playing for a long time... =\

From what I was told, this game continues the story from the original game, but I cannot confirm this as I never played that game. If I remember correctly, you were doing some missions and then you were captured, so you will need to escape and... well, play this game in order to know what happens next! (Yep, just a lame excuse to say that I don't remember what happens, LOL)

This is not a 3D game. However, the enemies can be seen in many different angles, plus everything looks good, except if you get really near the enemies or other elements, since at that time they will start looking bad, I mean, you can clearly see all the pixels on the screen as big squares...

The sounds in this game are nice, plus each place you get to seem to have their own music, which makes this game nicer and better to listen to. Well, at least you won't get bored easily with it...

Play Time/Replayability
Despite of not having anything to unlock, I heard that the MAC version of this game had things like a map editor and other stuff... Unfortunately, I can't confirm if this version also has it, but I think so... =\

Final Recommendation
If you don't care about a game with shiny graphics, get this one! However, I don't know if it is compatible with Windows XP...
