Very Good, But Not As Mind-Blowing As The Original
First off, set your mind to that I run a fast computer, so the loading speed, graphics, etc. might be a little different. I Run The Game On A Intel Pentium 4 1.4Ghz, 512 SD-Ram, Visiontek GeForce4 128 Mb Graphic Card Computer. The games minimum requirements are a P2 300Mhz, 64 Mb Ram (128 Recommended) and a 4 Mb Graphic Card. If you do not have those requirements, your computer is pretty old, and the game will probably run very slowly.
Graphics (6/10) No major improvements over the original's graphics. Some pictures are clearer, the ground looks more realistic, the coaster tracks are a bit more detailed, so on. If you get the drift, there have been very few graphic improvements. It doesn't make it a bad game, just next time, the developers could concentrate a little more on visuals.
Sound (7/10) Once again, no big improvements. There are more music options, the coaster sounds are a little more realistic, and the screaming isn't as annoying as it was. I noticed a small problem or glitch, when guests are riding a roller coaster, during the drops (even for the huge ones), they only scream for about half a second. Other additions include, guests saying things. Not whole conversations but small sentences like:''Yay! That was fun!'' and things like that. There should also be an option to put your own music (MP3) in the game. Something that a lot of people wanted, but which never made it into the game.
Gameplay (10/10) The same old addictive and fun gameplay. If it's old doesn't mean it's bad. There are about 20 new rides, excluding the 10+ new shops! Other than that, the interface is still the same. There are about 30 new scenarios, including 5 official Six Flags scenarios. The ride builder hasn't changed a lot, except some new track options for roller coasters and new scenery. A nice addition is the ability to stack scenery on top of each other, giving you a lot more interesting aspects. The scenario builder is a very nice addition, giving you the power to create everything; scenery, money, inventions, landscapes, etc. There is also a roller coaster creator letting you build a roller coaster without scenery, obstructions, etc.
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE LONG LOADING TIMES, THIS IS NOT THE GAME FOR YOU! THE GAME LOADS 3 TIMES BEFORE OPENING A GAME, EACH LOAD IS ABOUT 30-90 SECONDS LONG! BEING A ROLLER COASTER TYCOON PLAYER, THIS WAS A BAD , BUT REALIZING HOW MANY THINGS WERE ADDED, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND AND GET USED TO IT.
Overall (8/10) If you really liked and own the original, I would suggest trying out this one before you buy. If your a new Roller Coaster Tycoon player BUY IT NOW, You won't be disappointed!
Remember, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Corkscrew Follies And Loopy Landscapes are not compatible with Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. Your saved games, tracks, etc. won't work on this version, yet. Expect the developers to release a patch or a program that makes them compatible in the next few months!
