                           INTRODUCTION
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 '-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_'-'_

I found out about a lot of good games from a people I knew, and
Princess Maker was one good example of this. While living in
Palm Beach, Sydney, I knew a neighbour who had Princess Maker 2
on their PC. He introduced me to it, having no other game to show
me at the time (he didn't like it very much), and I was hooked
immediately.
I eventually managed to play it on my own computer, but only
after having the luck of getting old IBMs at Garage Sales and
whatnot and getting credit on a certain website for writing a
review about the game.
The only tough part was transferring a game from a an Apple G3
to an IBM 386 without a floppy drive for the G3. All 12 MBs of the
game went from the G3 to the 7200 using a zip disk and external
zip drive, then to the 386 via 11 floppy discs.
This is a guide on how to get the most out of Princess Maker 2
in one playing. You will need the cheat to "end" the game at
various points. The reputations required for getting a specific
ending never appear to be certain even when you cheat your way
there, which is why you should check with the fortune teller.

In any case, I won’t go too much into depth covering stats and
whatnot in this guide because that’s not what I’m concerned with.
What I can offer you, however, are awesome tips on how to get off
to a good start in the game to achieve certain results and the
order by which you should have your daughter do certain
activities.

                           Starting A Game
 ================================================================

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
When you start a new game you'll need to...
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 4) Choose your daughter's blood type
 5) Choose your age
 6) Choose your birthday
 7) Watch the introduction

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Choosing Names
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Your name is the name of the male hero who looks after the girl
in Princess Maker, and will also become the daughter's second
 name.
The daughter's default name is Olive Oyl. You can type in names
using the keyboard as well as via the layout shown on the screen.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Choosing Birthdays
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
The stats that Olive begins with will depend on what time of the
 year she was born.
     ___________________________________________
    | Sign | Date | Ruler |
    |_____________|___________________|_________|
    | Aries | March~April | Mars |
    | Taurus | April~May | Venus |
    | Gemini | May~June | Mercury |
    | Cancer | June~July | Moon |
    | Leo | July~August | Sol |
    | Virgo | August~September | Mercury |
    | Libra | September~October | Venus |
    | Scorpio | October~November | Pluto |
    | Sagittarius | November~December | Jupiter |
    | Capricorn | December~January | Saturn |
    | Aquarius | January~February | Uranus |
    | Pisces | February~March | Neptune |
    |_____________|___________________|_________|

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Choosing a Bloodtype
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
The blood type your daughter has will effect her stress levels
and a few other stats throughout the game.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Choosing Your Age
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Using the selection you can only choose from 1 to some reason-
able age, but if you enter it in using the keyboard you can
choose any age you like including 0 (so you'll be 10 years
 younger that your "daughter").

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Getting Past the First Sequence Quickly
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Press Esc or F3 to skip the beginning segment if you've seen it
before. If you start the game while debug mode has been activated
the game will automatically skip the start though.
If you start the game by entering lots of random letters at the
keyboard the game will automatically begin as Olive Oyl. She is
Agnus (born 4th February) and blood type A.

 ================================================================

 1) Status
 2) Talk
 3) Diet
 4) Profile
 5) Town
 6) Castle
 7) Deity
 8) Schedule

 1) These show all the common stats at your disposal in Princess
Maker 2, though I'll talk more about them later.

 2) Talking won't improve your relationship but it's a good way of
finding out things your daughter needs, and when she's behav-
ing badly it's a good way of testing your relationship with
her (because when you scold her the same amount of stress is
taken away as her love score for you).
You can also take stress away providing Olive isn't in a
delinquent mood. 30 gold for -30 stress.

 3) Change her diet to robust, normal, slimming or weight loss
diet. It's a good way controlling her Constitution yet not
such a wise way to control her weight.
On a robust diet she'll gain constitution and weight
quickly (not to mention you losing money just as quick at 80
gold per month!), so use it as a booster to her constitution
    rather than a solution.

 4) You'll see things like D.O.B., blood type, deity, star sign,
popularity, mood/health, weight and measurements here. I'll
explain them in more detail later on.

 5) I'll talk more about town later on, but basically it's a
place where you buy stuff, meet people and use the debug
    features.

 6) This is the place to work on your popularity for sure, but
I'll go more into it later on.

 7) Using the deity you can restore an old game, save the current
one or "return to DOS." If you don't want to do any of those
it's still a way to check out what the deities look like
    easily.

 8) Plan what your daughter is going to do for the month. See
    below for more detailed information.

 ================================================================
                             Stats
 ================================================================

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
I'll tell you the basic stats first...
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
  1) Constitution (or HP)
  2) Intelligence (or MP)
  3) Refinement
  4) Charisma
  5) Morality
  6) Faith
  7) Sin
  8) Stress

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Constitution (HP)
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Not an important stat for going on any particular path, but
 considerably useful for other reasons.

     What Constitution does:
      - Don't get as stressed as you might.
      - Serves as HP in battle, or hit points.
      - A good constitution is needed for dancing, fighting and
hard physical labour in general. And my oh my one full
month of sleazy bar or cabaret will only make the stress
sky rocket to 300 with 999 constitution.
      - With 0 Constitution she will become deathly ill from a
month of charity work (unless Cube manages to put her onto
        a robust diet beforehand).

     How to get Constitution:
      - Get on a robust diet, just be aware that you'll gain
weight really quickly and only need it until it's about
        100. Slimming and weight loss diets will make you lose
        constitution.
      - Order the meat dish at the restaurant for +15
constitution. You'll also gain 2.6 pounds.
      - Ice Shards occasionally found in the wild give +10 cons-
        titution and -10 stress.
      - Win the cooking completion and choose to eat it when
prompted to get +50 constitution. If you're cheating you
can buy it every month (only one will work for every month
though ,if you get two you'll have to sell the other for
        800 gold).
      - Farming and hunting improve it, though at the cost of
refinement. Hunting will also add to sin (both boost
        Strength as well).
      - Masonry improves it at the cost of charisma.
      - Dancing boosts it by small increments, also giving
charisma and a little Strength (though to support the
lesson costs you may have to resort to robbing
        travellers!).
      - Constitution is lost by doing housework, working at the
        salon or meeting fairies/elves.
      - If you want your daughter to become good at dancing, make
her birthday sometime from 23rd July to 22nd August. Leos
        have good constitution and refinement.
Aries (Mar 22~Apr 19) is better for the fighter type.
Hunting is useful, because it will continue giving you
combat bonuses even after strategy, fencing and fighting
        become obsolete.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Intelligence (MP)
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Intelligence is one of those hard-won things that will allow
your daughter to achieve more success in life. It's easy to lose
and hard to gain, so think carefully before becoming more
 intelligent!

     What Intelligence does:
      - It is used as MP in battle.
      - Useful if you want to earn money as a tutor.
      - Helps become friends with the minister.

     How to get Intelligence:
      - You can gain intelligence most speedily by studying
science but faith and magical defence slowly decrease (yet
        exponentially).
      - You can also gain it via Poetry and Theology, neither of
        which take away anything else.
      - You'll lose intelligence if you work at the bar or
        cabaret.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Refinement
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Refinement is something you don't need so much early on, though
it is essential for a girl climbing on the social ladder.

     What Refinement does:
      - Helps improve your score at the dance party.

     How to get Refinement:
      - Take protocol and poetry lessons to steep yourself in this
ancient art. Just do baby-sitting, masonry, grave-keeping
or tutoring before you make that investment!
      - Buy a Teacup for +10 refinement.
      - Wear the Cotton Dress for +15 refinement.
      - Wear the Silk Dress for +40 refinement.
      - Buy the Venus Jewels from the travelling salesman (you'll
get +20 refinement and +20 charisma).
      - If you have the Venus Jewels you'll get +8 refinement each
        year on her birthday.
      - Wear the Royal Sword to get +50 refinement.
      - Go to the devil's cave in the desert and refuse Lucifon's
        offer to get +50 refinement.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Charisma
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
     How to get Charisma:
      - Work at the Sleazy Bar [faith/morals/temperament lost] and
        Cabaret [refinement/intelligence/temperament lost].
      - Take dancing lessons.
      - Don't work as a babysitter, mason, graveyard keeper or
        tutor.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Sensitivity
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
     How to get Sensitivity:
      - Babysitting and Graveyard Watch [Charisma goes down for
        both].
      - Working at the salon [Strength decreases].
      - aking painting, poetry and science classes [science
        decreases faith and magical def.]
      - Don't do housework and strategy study.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Morality
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
     What it Morality does:
      - Your daughter will find it easier to do jobs that require
morals like Church Duty and tutoring kids.
      - Her morals will be commented on at the end of the game and
like the other stats help improve your ending score.
      How to get Morals:
      - Work as a nun's assistant at the church or tutor.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Faith
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
     What Faith does:
      - This stat will protect your daughter from the spirit
world, making her good at grave-keeping.

     How to get Faith:
      - Boost it by working in the church or having her study
        theology.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Stress
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
     What Stress does:
      - Will increase rates of delinquency and sickness.

 27) Deity
 28) Star Sign
 29) Popularity
 30) Mood/Health
 31) Height/Bust/Hips/Weight

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Mood/Health
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Olive's mood comes in various shades. The more stress she
accumulates and the less her constitution is the worse she'll
 get.
First she'll become rebellious. If she's got a good relation-
ship with you this will be remedied easily by scolding
her, but the game will urge you to keep a closer eye on you
     until she starts behaving again.
If she's delinquent she'll use her off time to buy random
things. The worse she is, the more costly they'll be. But
it's amazing how often she'll choose something she actually
     needs.
When rebellious she'll not do anything at work or school.
When delinquent, employers won't even allow her to work
there, so don't waste your time putting it on the schedule.
Work her too long and too hard and she will soon become
ill. This comes from a lack of constitution mostly, so you
will need to give her a robust diet at least.
If you don't do anything to improve her condition she'll
deteriorate rather quickly to the stage where there is a
danger of her dying, and when nothing drastic is done then
she will die... It's the only way of getting a Game Over.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------
 Height/Bust/Hips/Weight
 ----------------------------------------------------------------
Height only matters for a couple of parts of the game. For
instance, you can get away with a higher weight if you're
tall, but it doesn’t really make a difference.

If your little girl has very high sensitivity (which she can get
by babysitting, which is a job that pays!!), she won’t be bother-
ed by monsters and she’ll have the opportunity to meet fairies in
the forest and gain prizes that she can sell for very high prices
(and these events can be repeated multiple times, though I would
suggest making a spare save before you venture out unless you
choose the wrong option). She can then use the money she gains
from her dalliances with the fairies in the woods (the best
option if you don’t want to increase her Sin, and therefore
create a negative outcome) to pay for her lessons, though be
aware of which stats are being improved as she does certain act-
ivies and which stats are being eroded. In the following walk-
through, I will outline the optimum order of activities for spec-
ific outcomes. Have fun!

There are too many to give each of them a walkthrough, so I will
give walthroughs for certain types of outcome, such as a good or
evil fighter, whether that fighter have traits that are mixed in-

fly. The walk-throughs are just a rough guide to how you can get
the stats that your daughter should have by the end of the game

                          Fighter's Path
                          --------------

Mercenary, Bounty Hunter, Soldier, Knight, Fighting Instructor,
Officer of the Royal Guard, General, Warrior Heroine

Rival: Anita Cassandra (the girl at the weapon shop) -- will
challenge Olive to fight her in the festival

Aries is the most compatible sign for this path. Give the girl a
robust diet right from the start and take her to the restaurant to
have the meat dish when you can. You need to have social and hous-
ework reputation as well as fighting and magical, though fighting
is the most important. It doesn't matter how little or much Sin
you have. For intelligence and faith you only need to worry about
bounty hunters, generals and warrior heroes.

1. Do housework until you reach 100 temperament. If the harvest
festival comes up, do the cooking competition.
2. Work at the farm for a while until your daughter gets good at
   it. Then Masonry.
3. Do babysitting until you have 500 sensitivity (for warrior hero
or bounty hunter) or 300 (for generals). In any case it's good
for building up maternal instincts so your daughter will become
a good mother when she grows up and you get a better score.
4. Work at the church for a little while until you have at least
   30 morality and 100 faith.
5. Study Strategy, Fencing and Fighting until your daughter can
protect herself. Get up to Expert level in Fighting so you can
get Combat Defence. Buy her equipment, too. She might even be
able to win the fighting comp. A good way of earning money is
going into the adventure areas and attacking unsuspecting
travelling merchants... Surprisingly this doesn't increase
Sin... Also take magic lessons and work at the graveyard when
you can (though its not as important as combat).
6. Go to the adventure areas. Fight monsters, vanquish wanted
criminals, return fairy eggs and cat's eyes and all that stuff.
7. Fight battles until you get a combat reputation of 421. An easy
way of doing this is entering and exiting the town constantly.
The more reputation you already have, the more people will
offer to fight you "on the way home." Each battle won gives +10
reputation and each battle refused or lost you lose 15-. Do the
same with magical reputation, only get it up to 370. Do the
same, just win the battles with magic instead of attacks.
8. Study Protocal until you have 100 decorum and talk to denizens
of the castle. Take a few dancing lessons for charisma and
work at the bar until you have 100 conversation. The guard,
knight and general require refinement and decorum (though you
get more points with the general with charisma). The concubine
likes conversation, the queen likes temperament and the king
likes fighters and/or magical reputation. Don't bother with
the minister and archbishop just yet. And don't get acquainted
   with the jester.
9. Study theology until you have 300 faith and intelligence. Make
friends with the minister and archbishop. The archbishop will
help you win the dancing competition.

                          ---------------

Sorceress, Magic Instructor, Royal Magician, Sorceress Heroine

Rival: Wendy Lachesis (you see her at magic class and sometimes
in the pawn shop) -- she'll also challenge you in the fighter's
                            tournament.

Scorpio is the best option for this path, as it starts out already
good at magic. Have robust diet and eat meat dishes early on, and
eat paradise eggs for constitution. Only Sorceress Heroine, Royal
Magician and Sorceress require sensitivity (500 for the first two
and 300 for the last).

1. Do housework until you reach 100 temperament. If the harvest
festival comes up, do the cooking competition. Eat the egg.
2. Take magic and theology lessons; work at the church, graveyard,
   inn or restaurant.
3. Once you're good at magic go to the adventure areas. Fight
monsters, vanquish wanted criminals, return fairy eggs and
cat's eyes and all that stuff. You need magical reputation the
most, so focus on defeating people with that.

4. Study Strategy, Fencing and Fighting until your daughter can
protect herself. Get up to Expert level in Fighting so you can
get Combat Defence. She might even be able to win the fighting
comp. Get your fighting reputation up.
5. Do babysitting until you have enough sensitivity. In any case
it's good for building up maternal instincts so your daughter
will become a good mother when she grows up and you get a
   better score.
6. Work at the church for a little while until you have at least
   30 morality and 100 faith.
9. Study theology until you have 300 faith and 500 intelligence.
Make friends with the minister and archbishop. The archbishop
will help you win the dancing competition. If you've got too
much faith and too little intelligence, start taking science
   lessons instead.

class) -- in the yearly festival she'll insinuate that you can't
beat her in the dance party.

Charisma, Reputation (especially social), intelligence, sensitiv-
ity and refinement are needed to do well in the social path as
well as (I presume) popularity. You don't need charisma to become
a farmer's wife (in which case graveyard and masonry are job opt-
ions), though you do need 100 intelligence. Merchant's wife is pr-
etty much the same except you need 150 charisma. You only need
refinement for millionaire's wife and countess (one more than the
other). The only difference between royal concubine and queen is
the queen has 499 charisma and the concubine has 500.

1. Do housework until you reach 100 temperament. If the harvest
festival comes up, do the cooking competition. Eat the egg.
2. Study fencing, magic and fighting sporadically until your
daughter can defend herself well enough.
3. Once you're good at fighting go to the adventure areas. Fight
monsters, vanquish wanted criminals, return fairy eggs and
cat's eyes and all that stuff. Get some fighting and magic
   reputation.
4. Study dancing until you have good enough charisma.
5. Study Protocal until you have 100 decorum and talk to denizens

Whatever you become you will need at least 80 Art. This is easy to
get, as the prize you get from winning the art comp gives 50 Art.
You also need 299 intelligence (300 as a writer), but none as a
jester.

1. Do baby sitting until your sensitivity is very high.
2. Go adventuring and meet all the fairies, etc. you can find.
3. Use the money you got to give her lessons in Art and Poetry.
4. Make her work at the bar when it becomes available.
5. Become friends with the Jester.

1. Do housework until you reach 100 temperament. If the harvest
festival comes up, do the cooking competition. DON'T eat the
   egg. EVER!
2. Study painting. Enter the art comp. For work, do babysitting.
3. Study Protocal until you have 100 decorum and talk to denizens

Lord of Darkness, Prositute, Con Artist, High-Class Prostitute,

Religion of any kind is forbidden. Your daughter must be sinful,
refined (except for lord of darkness, prostitute and con artist),
and charismatic (except for lord of darkness). Begin your journey
to the dark side now! Mwahahahaaha!
A high class prostitute must have a little social and housework
reputation. Prositute, con artist and courtesan require con-
versation. Virgo is good for those who wish for more refinement,
otherwise Taurus is the go.

Stats to Focus On: Constitution, Intelligence, Fighting Skill/
                    Attack/Defence, Magical Skill/Attack/Defence.
Activities to Take: Adventure (Desert & Lake), Harvest Festival
                    (Cook Off, Fight Tournament).
Items You Need: Mythril Armour, Books, Dragon Tights, Black
Scales, Silver Pelts, Perfect Flour, Valkyria
                    Sword.
Habits to Form: Hunting monsters & animals, working the sleazy
bar, serving at the cabaret, accepting bribes.

1. Spend your first gold on a few fighting basics like a short
sword and leather armour so you can take your daughter on
adventures and rob travellers. Merchants are the best targets
(the guys who dress in robes) because their weak and have the
   most booty.
2. Study Protocal until you have 100 decorum and talk to denizens
   of the castle.
3. Take a few dancing lessons for charisma and work at the bar
until you have 100 conversation. The guard,
knight and general require refinement and decorum (though you
get more points with the general with charisma). The concubine
likes conversation, the queen likes temperament and the king
likes fighters and/or magical reputation. Don't bother with
the minister and archbishop just yet. The jester requires con-
versation and sensitivity, but don't talk with him.
2. Take magic, strategy, fencing and fighting lessons.
3. Get your magic and fighting reputation up.
4. Kill many monsters in the adventure area.
5. Work at the sleazy bar or cabaret until your charisma is high
enough. Don't do cabaret if you wish to retain your refinement.
If some morals are required in your chosen profession don't
   work in the sleazy bar.
6. Do housework for those professions that require temperament.

The Path for those who Want it All
                ----------------------------------

1. Choose Aries as a sign.
2. Buy the winter dress & dresses as soon as you begin as well as
   a dagger and leather armour.
3. Put Olive on a robust diet and make her do farm work. Change
the diet to normal when she gets to 110 Constitution and
continue doing 2x farm & 1x time off. Give her no pocket
money (it won't help your relationship with her -- chatting
   might).
4. Use the money she earns in taking her to magic and fighting
classes, then fencing once she receives an upgrade in one of
those. Get her to work as a lumberjack when it is available.
5. When you've received upgrades from all the self-defence classes
take her to the forest and mug travellers there (funnily it's
the killing of monsters that's sinful not highway robbery).
