Brilliance in a box
Championship Manager is a very successful football(soccer) management game from EIDOS.
When I first played Championship Manager about 5 years ago, I thought it was terrible, poorly presented and boring but it has grown on me and the sequels just keep getting better.
Aim:The aim of the game is to take a football club from any division, any country and win trophies and become a successful manager. It sounds easy and a bit boring but believe me it is not. You have to do everything a real manager would do including picking the team, overcoming financial problems and buying and selling players.
Roster:There are teams from all major countries including England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, the U.S.A, Spain and many more. All favorite teams are their including Manchester United, Juventus, Real Madrid and Arsenal. All teams have a reserve squad and have all their real players up to a certain point and with the Data Editor, you can keep all your favorite teams up to date. There is also a chance to manage nations so you can pick your countries squad and compete against the best team in the world and give debuts to the players you want.
Gameplay:When not participating in a match, there is a main menu screen. From here, you can access all the players, interact with your board and look at your squad. However, the in match gameplay is what lets the game down. You are only able to read a bar which tells you what is going on and when a goal is scored GOAL flashes up. There is not even an option to watch the highlights as there is in LMA Manager.
Realism:The Realism is quite accurate. If you start managing a lower league side, Ronaldo and co will not join you. The teams are also realistically rated. If Manchester United were to play West Bromwich Albion(no disrespect) they would more than likely beat them but if they played someone like Arsenal the may struggle and lose.
Re playability:The re playability on this game is awesome. If you are tired of managing a certain team, you can quit and manage any of the other 1000's or you can stay and change your entire squad. There are also cheats and hints to keep you entertained.
This game is a must buy. If you love football and fancy having a shot at management buy it NOW
Rating: 4.5 - Outstanding
