Game Trivia

The NPC Erik The Slayer is named after Erik West, who's online alias was "Immok The Slayer". Bethesda was so impressed with his knowledge of Oblivion that they gave him an in depth tour of Bethesda studios and decided to create a character based on Erik. Erik died of cancer in May 2011, and never got to see the release of Skyrim. The Tour of Bethesda's workspace was set-up by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Did you know the word "Dovakiin" does not mean dragonborn. It really means Dragon Kind Hunter Born?

You may find Ma'Liq The Liar randomly. His words might sound strange, but they actually make sense if you think out of the game. You're so into the game that you think he's talking about something in-game, but most of his sentences are about the game development and how things are programmed. Sometimes he might talk about lore from previous games since he was also on the previous TES games.

"Where are the Dwarven people ?" You may ask after mid game. Well, the first answer you'll find is the revolution of the Falmer. Yes, the Falmer killed hundreds of Dwemer (Deep-Elves) but that would never be enough to wipe out the wisdom and power of the Dwemer. Not from a tribal revolution. There are many other theories, but let's go straight to the most logical and most accepted theory (yes, it's a theory, there is no official lore). It is known that the Dwemer always wanted to ascend, to be so perfect that they wouldn't reside on Mundus. They had many hype artifacts such as the Heart of Lorkhan which was used as an energy source to the Brass Tower (only mentioned on Skyrim). The Brass Tower was basically a mechanical god. Let's call it that. So, they went so far in mixing technology with magicka that they ascended into a different dimension. Maybe into a realm in Oblivion, or somewhere among the gods.

The Falmer were emprisioned so long underground that they got blind. That so, you can Sneak right in front of them, but beware, they are very sound sensitive, and any of their pets will detect you.

It is mentioned by a member of the council in Solitude that if Ulfric Stormcloak asked the High King Torygg to join him against the Empire, Torygg would have joined him. His death was unnecessary and actually made the war harder for the Nords. It happens that King Torygg and Ulfric were good friends, and Torygg had a special respect for Ulfric.

The Falmer found in Dwarven Ruins were actually Snow Elves emprisioned by the Dwemer. If you have the Dawnguard DLC installed you will come across 2 unchanged Snow Elves in the Dawnguard Quests.

The Seekers found in the Apocrypha realm were actually wise men who gave their souls to Hermaeus Mora, the Daedric Prince of Knowledge and Fate in order to waste their eternity learning from the forbidden books.
