Lag.. Ugh. Lag.. Lag..

Guild Wars is starting a buzz in the PC world. With it's free online play and large community, does this game surpass it's mere $50 price? Let's see.

Sound: 7/10

Don't expect much from this. It isn't Final Fantasy. The music is decent and same with the effects. Nothing to go crazy over. Typical in most MMORPGs.

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics are purely stunning in Guild Wars. You could spend hours just running around the Guild Wars world looking for beautiful sites, and there are plenty. The character designs are very broad and satisfying, assuring you will most likely be able to perfect how you want your character to look like. The only thing that sets Guild Wars from getting a 10 on graphics is that most people will not be able to enjoy them. I have a fairly decent computer and I have to turn down the graphics to the lowest quality because it's impossible to move with even half of its potential. If you have a super-computer, and you're a sucker for eye-candy, Guild Wars won't fail to please you.

Story: 8/10

The story is quite hard to get into. You won't quite get anything until you reach around level 10. When you do get to it, it's very fascinating and deep. Many players cling to the storyline like it's their baby. It just depends on the gamer. The storyline will most definitely not lower the enjoyment of the game. Who cares about storylines in MMORPGs anyway?

Moderators/GMs: 9/10

The GMs of Guild Wars strive greatly to make this game great for the younger gamers out there. They've done a very good job with making the game tasteful and not abuse-able. If you can handle a few of the regular annoyances of people breaking the word filters and such, you shouldn't have any problem. The GMs are very involved too.

Community: 9/10

You really won't be surprised by the community in this. I mean, you get what you pay for. There are always going to be annoying people. There are in every MMORPG. But there may be a bit more in Guild Wars due to the no monthly fee. Weird how most hecklers in MMORPGs are cheap, huh? Guild Wars also implements quests that require partners, and there are tons of nice people in towns willing to partner up with people do quests. Little things like that do a lot for the community. Anyway, the community is huge. It's not just limited to one country. There are people around the world who play. There's one big international district where people of all different countries can meet. If you'd prefer a district for your country, there are districts limited for your country. You can't go into other country's districts, though. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Speaking of countries, let's lead into the next category.

Player vs. Player: 10/10

You want a MMORPG with fantastic PvP? Look no further. The whole thing is a bit complicated, though. So I'll save you the reading . You can find information of it on the official site. Anyway, Guild Wars is very heavily held up by it's great PvP system. Afterall, it is called GUILD Wars. The best part, in my opinion, of the PvP system is the fight for the Gods' favor. Basically, it's like one big olympics. Countries fight eachother to be the best and win the favor of the Gods. The only problem with this is that it's only really Europe, Korea, and America who do good in these events. But it IS great fun regardless.

Game-play: 10/10

There is so much reason to give Guild Wars a 10 on game-play that it's insane. Firstly, there are literally HUNDREDS of skills available to you throughout different quests. This allows deep character building and can make you or break you in PvP. The battle system itself is fairly typical for any MMORPG. Hotbar with skills, click and fight, yet still very fun. The "game to be played for fun, not to be endured" slogan is very true. You don't have to play Guild Wars every day. Once you buy it, it's there forever for you. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the game-play in this game.

Other Comments:

Before getting this game, I strongly reccommend that you check the reccommended system specs and make sure that your computer decently exceeds them. This is the only reason that this game did not score higher. It is not fun to dread going into a town that takes 10 minutes to get to a destination that would take 10 seconds without lag. This will get frustrating and set you back from playing this more often.

The Good and the Bad:

+Involved GMs
+Nice community
+Partner Quests
----------------------------The specs needed to run this game smoothly, and have decent graphics quality at the same time.

Overall, if you have a good computer, and want to play an MMORPG without the pressure of giving up your precious dollars every month, then Guild Wars is definitely for you!
