"A great game...again."

The graphics in The Sims 2 are wonderful. Unlike the first game, they are in complete 3D. You can zoom out far enough to see your entire house on a massive lot, or in close enough to see the color of your Sims' eyes. Each Sim has facial expressions for basically every situation. They cry, laugh, and everything in between, and you can see it all. The only problem is that this game does not do great on high-end systems, so even if you have a cutting-edge computer, you will get some lag with the graphics turned up high.

SOUND - 7/10
Once again, a Maxis game sounds great. Don't worry to all you Sims fans who were getting annoyed from the music in the first games, because this time around there is a completely new soundtrack. However, the songs do get a bit repetitive, since every time you go into buy mode, you get the same tune, and the same goes for build mode.

You loved the first Sims? Then this game is your holy grail. Everything that was fun about the first game is still here. In addition, improvements have been made and flaws have been fixed. Some new features are movie making, wants and fears, and "smarter" Sims so you dont have to take care of all their needs yourself. There are some new items too, but don't expect there to be as many as all the expansion packs of the first Sims combined, because you will be disappointed. There area actually a surprising amount of items in the original game that aren't included in this game, but it may just be Maxis' way of getting you to buy its expansion packs. If you never played the first Sims, you'll have hours and hours and HOURS of fun with this. Although, the fact that it is so much like the first Sims is actually The Sims 2's greatest flaw. It's very much like the first Sims in the sense that you live a life, and you need to make your Sim happy (or sad if you so choose). The new improvements such as aging and the ability of your Sims to have wants and aspirations are great, but I'd say about 80% of the game is a clone of the first one. You still need to get up in the morning, go to work, get friends and skills for promotions, etc.

OVERALL - 8/10
This is a great game, no doubt about it. It just doesn't have the originality of the first Sims though. If you have never played the Sims before and are thinking about getting this game, go get it. If you liked the first Sims but played it so much that you got sick of it, then this may not be the game for you, since you'll discover all the new features quickly and probably get bored. It's fun for a while, and there are just so many things to do that you might as well buy it anyway.
