"Nothing like your first time..."

Leisure Suit Larry 1 (VGA) is an Adventure game developed by Sierra Entertainment. In this review I will mostly show you which things have been improved in this VGA version of the original game so don't expect an in depth review about it.

Story: 7/10
Presentation: 8/10

Nothing has changed here, not that it needed any change… the concept is simple and the execution is hilarious as with all the good Leisure Suit titles. You are a 38 year old virgin and you suddenly realize that it has finally come to this: Get laid or get lost… from life that is! So you grab the few money you have, buy a cheesy leisure suit and some bling and hit the streets. While there isn't exactly much text to read the games manages to be quite funny at times, although the following Larry games are much better. For the first game and for its age though it's very good.

Gameplay: 7/10
Replay Value: 1/10

A needed improvement has been done here but that only and nothing else. Both the original and this one are exactly the same games but with different graphics and controls. You go around talk with people, gather all sorts of items and use them in all sorts of ways in order to do what you need to do in order to get the… attention of certain ladies in the game. While in the original game you would input the commands like “TAKE bottle”, “TALK Woman”, “OPEN Door” and so on, here you have a mouse cursor that includes all the commands you want like Look, Walk, Use and so on. Believe it or not in this first game this turns out to be more of an annoyance rather than a good thing! Why? Well for starters in order to change between the commands you click with your mouse and roll between them BUT they have included 2 commands that you use only 1 or 2 times in the whole game making it a bit annoying to click repeatedly just to go from Look to Walk. Another problem, (minor but a problem), is that the “input command” way offered more opportunities to get a laugh by experimenting in various ways by using crazy commands in crazy places. In the biggest problem is the fact that we're talking about the exact same game. The first game in the title possibly has the lowest replay value so improving the graphics or the controls doesn't really do the trick.

Graphics: 7.5/10
Design: 7.5/10
Sound: 6.5/10
Music: 6.6/10

Without a doubt the game looks great… after all the major improvement in this version besides the controls is the way the game looks. The various areas from the original now look even better, more colorful and more detailed. The close-up views of the main gals you'll meet look gorgeous and Larry looks more like… Larry! The sound and music has been improved a lot, or I should say added since the original lacked sound a bit in terms of quantity.

-Mouse based controls
-A major improvement audio-visually

-No “real” additions

Also Play:
Day Of The Tentacle (PC)
Leisure Suit Larry 2-7 (PC)
Monkey Island (Series)(PC)
Out Of Order (Freeware) Highly recommended!!!

Overall: 6.4/10

Sure it looks good, but the only reason to play it is if you haven't played the original or if you are a graphics junkie.
