"A great expansion with a few bugs"
Remember the old days of Command and Conquer? Remember watching little pixelated soldiers fire their machine guns at each other? Well, now its back, but with more graphics.
The graphics of this RTS game is currently one of the best in my opinion. Watching a nuclear explosion will make you feel all tingly since it looks so real. Watching little jeeps with mounted machine guns blow up and crash into infantry looks amazing. However, the infantry look like little toy soldiers. They're weapons look like grey tree branches on fire, which is the -1 point to the score. Overall this games graphics are really good for an RTS.
Most of the sounds in this game are great, however some sounds like the machine gun from the technical and explosions from rockets aren't loud enough- they sound muffled.
Each side, the Global Liberation Army, United States of America, and China, have their own type of music. The music fits the country very well. For example, the GLA have middle-eastern type music, while China has Chinese type music (lol -_-). Oh, and mind you, there are lots of different music tracks in the game.
Basically terrorists want to take over the world thus USA and China have to stop them. Pretty lame if you ask me.
This is the main problem of the game... its pretty unbalanced. Often you will find yourself being crushed by the Chinese Infantry General, a general who can pump out tier 1 infantry very quickly, which are so strong that they can easily destroy anything that gets in their way. The GLA toxin general technical + rpg trooper rush is almost undefeatable if done correctly. And there are also quite a few bugs, such as the Scud Storm bug (which I don't know how to do yet...), Basically, you don't even have to build the Scud Storm superweapon and can already use it. EA also lacks in anti-cheating software, thus you will find internet play ruined by loads of 5 year olds with map hacks. EA has also seemed to abandon this game... a patch has not been released in quite a long time. So when EA releases a update to fix these imbalances and bugs, the gameplay will be a 10/10, but for now, an 8.
Replay value: 10/10
You'll find yourself playing this for along time since every time you play something different happens.
Rent or buy?
I'd say rent, and if you like it, then buy it.
