What is the point of vault 106?

  1. Is there a point to vault 106? i went in there hoping to find something intersting to find like the bobblehead in valut 108 but it was just a bunch of insane survivors and some strange cutscenes showing scientists walking around in what looked like the time before the vault must have gone downhill. is there a point to this vault or is it just an easter egg?

  1. According to Fallout Wikia, Vault 106 was pumped full of intoxicating gases two weeks after it was sealing, making all of the remaining residents hallucinate and become insane. The effects still linger, as you also hallucinate in parts (for example, seeing your dad or Butch)

  2. Pretty sure 106 is where the Science Bobblehead is. It's on a metal shelf in a large room with (2?) survivors.

  3. This question was the very reason behind me getting an account. The reasoning behind vault 106 and really any of the other vaults including vault 101 was to show how twisted things got during the war. The vaults were clearly set up as science experiments, which causes you to wonder what was the experimenting being done in 101? Anywhere you look to try and find it the data is corrupted. Simply put the reason is to make the players wonder and think and put strings together.

  4. Fallout3wiz- Vault 101 was set up to see how society coped with a dictator and wasn't ever supposed to open, but was monitored from the outside. <3

  5. charlieglitz - They also wanted to study the effects of inbreeding, and Vault 101 was given enough spare parts to make it last for all eternity essentially. But because the vault's purpose was to never be opened, it was never given a G.E.C.K., which is why, along with what happens in the "Trouble on the Homefront" side quest the Lone Wanderer must travel all the way to Little Lamplight/Vault 87 to acquire one late in the events of the main story.
