Game developers aren't weird, macs just weren't designed for gaming so developers don't put the time in for something that wasn't even designed for gaming.
At some point in time it will be ported to mac, but for now just use Bootcamp.

There aren't that many games for Macs anyway; so it's unlikely that this is going to be for a MAC. Why? Because the studios will make far more money by marketing this for a Windows bsaed PC than a MAC.

No. It is not for Mac because it is a waste of time and money to make it compatible since game sales for the Mac tanked in the mid 90's.

Actually,a Firaxis rep said that EVENTUALLY a Mac version would be released. That may or may not help.

Civ V is currently a PC-exclusive game . . . but you can install Windows on your Mac. If you do, you'll be able to run both operating systems at the same time (without rebooting too), which means you can play any PC-exclusive game on your Mac.

You can play it on a mac, you'll just need to use Bootcamp. If your mac can run this game then chances are it's new enough to already have bootcamp on it as part of the OSX install. You'll just need a working version of XP SP3 or up.
Otherwise? Because game developers are weird and many of them just don't support macs even though it's a lot easier now than it used to be. I mean, Blizzard seems to be doing okay (though it's not just because of Mac support).
It will come on mac eventually, but I'm enjoying the game on my 2008 Macbook Pro :)

It should be ported to Mac eventually, but you might have to wait a year. Usually they hire a separate company to do the port.

Wanna know why it isn't for mac?
Because macs aren't for Applications, they are for Prettiness.
If you wanna make use of A computer, Get Windows, and if you don't wanna do that, Get Linux. ;)
