"A great game!"
This is a great game; very fun to play. It'll take a bit of time to get used to all the controls, but it's worth it. Once you've mastered the controls, the rest is either very easy to figure out, or self-explanatory. I'd say one of the bad parts of this game is that it's so good, you'll easily lose track of time.
Fairly easy to learn at first, and very easy to remember once you get the hang of it.
The first thing you do is design your world. You can choose from many different civilizations to be, and even more leaders. You start out as just a wondering band of nomads, but in time, you'll build cities, buildings, and wonders of the world. You'll also make scientific discoveries, peace treaties and/or alliances (if you choose to), and fight other countries. You'll have to defend your cities. You'll also control every aspect of your civilization, from your type of government to your tax rate to whether or not you should build roads or not.
A very good story line (if you can call it a story line), where you can control everything about your country, even as a democracy.
This is the not-too-good part of the game. The graphics are just symbols representing different things. They may be two-dimensional and boring, but they get the point across. The sound is one continuous music that plays throughout the entire game. If you like to listen to any music, any time, then listen to it. If not, turn the volume down because you won't be thrilled with the music. The other sound in the game is the sound of fighting. When you attack, you'll hear the sounds made during the battle (not blood-curdling screams from the battlefield, but more like gunshots and explosions.
It won't impress you, it might bore you, but it's not confusing.
If you can succeed at beating this game, you'll probably want to play again. Then another time. And another, and another, and another. It's fun to experiment with different strategies, rivals, difficulty levels, countries, and leaders. This game is great to play many times. Experimenting is the only way to get your money's worth of the game. Playing the exact same way everytime would be, not only repetitive, but extremely boring.
It's very fun to play it multiple times. Every time you play is different from the last.
Buy or Rent?
It's a great game to play. Plus, it takes hours upon hours to finish (unless you're incredibly good at the game), so you probably don't want to rent it 10 times just for one game. Also, it is very cheap. Last time I checked, places were selling it for $15. It's a great deal, so.....buy it!
