Yikes! Horrible Graphics but Shweet Gameplay are mixed. What comes out on top?
Grand Theft Auto. It is one of the most notorius games of all time, and even when it was going to come out for playstation, people in florida were almost not allowed to buy the game. It's obvious why, but that was a little harsh. The game is pretty fun to play AT FIRST...but it loses it's charm after awhile, just like Carmageddon. The game has absolute horrible graphics, lets just start with that. Almost everything in the game is a sprite, and the game's framerate is respectable, but it could have been better, as a low grade pentium computer can get it running very smoothly. But that's just a minor flaw compared to the control of the game. First off, to move forward you gotta hold down a button, and that's just annoying in the first 5 mins. The main problem with control is that if youre not a good driver, youre most likely gonna get stuck a lot because if you get into a garage and screw up so you can't get back in the car, you gotta reset the game and try all over again. Despite these flaws, I found GTA to be a fun game. Even though the cops aren't nearly as tough as they are in Driver, they still make things interesting, as do some of the gangs in the game you have to eliminate. The game is long, because there is a huge number of missions, secret missions, and just plain large cities to drive through. The game is fun to play, even if it does turn old after a couple weeks.
Rating: 4.0 - Great
