This game is based on a movie which was based on a video game. Wait, what?

Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase was a fairly decent movie. Of course, I’m a big Scooby Doo fan so I would of course have a bias. I saw this game at Blockbuster and rented it and it was short and entertaining. I liked it. This game is not garbage. It is actually a game that could go on par with Crash and Spyro games as far as entertainment is concerned. It’s an ordinary simple platformer based off the movie… which was based on a videogame. Wow, what an interesting paradox. The game play is easy enough. You run around every levels throwing pies at enemies to get to the exit of the level which happens to be a box of Scooby Snacks. Like I said, this is a short game so there aren’t that many levels but they are definitely diverse. There’s a Roman Coliseum level, a prehistoric level, an Egyptian level…. it follows the movie. The ultimate goal is to stop the phantom menace. This menace is… well being a menace. He’s an actual monster so you can’t unmask him either. Some levels will require you to skateboard through the city in an attempt to make the game more exciting I guess

The graphics were done well. 3-D versions of Scooby and Shaggy and the bosses made this game all the more enjoyable. It seems to me that a lot of time was invested into the making of these graphics. For the sound…this is where the game started to lack. There were very poorly done tones and beats that did not match up with certain parts of the game. While I will admit there was some catchy tunes (Especially in boss fights) it just doesn't make up for the low quality sound overall. The game was easy and short. You could do it in a rental like I did. The game was of course targeted at a younger audience so that could explain it. What were tough were the mini-games. This game is severely underrated and this game is not deserving of a 1 or 2 out of a 10. It is probably the best Scooby Doo game out there and if you want to get one, get this. This game follows close to the movie, if you've ever seen that. This game goes pretty cheap nowadays. You could find it for 5 to 10 dollars. It wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a copy. If you don't want to buy it, at least rent it, it's worth trying! This game isn’t anything epic or anything that will win awards but it is fun and that’s what matters in a video game.
