"Lock and Load..."
The year: 2008. Russia is making moves to reclaim those territories lost in the break up of the Soviet Union. The world teeters on the brink of war on an apocalyptic scale, and Russia marches on.
Sounds pretty brutal, doesn't it? Well, not when you have the most elite Green Berets ever trained on the job! These soldiers, nicknamed ''The Ghosts'' have been charged with the task of keeping the peace in a world on the brink of destruction.
Tactical action that we've come to know and love from the Tom Clancy games of the past. An excellent combination of stealth and action, the story mode is simply brilliant.
OK, so you have to squads, Alpha and Bravo to deal with. These squads are comprised of various members of the ''Ghost'' group. There are several classes to choose from, including sniper, rifleman, and support (I highly recommend sniper). The sniper carries a rifle with a long range scope, rifleman care light automatic and semi-automatic weapons, and the support carry heavy machine guns. There are other classes as well, but they're all pretty self-explanatory.
You mix and match these classes to make up your squads. You can switch between team members on the fly, which comes in very handy, as one would expect.
Basically, you run around the level, completing objectives such as rescue, capturing, and securing areas. Pretty simplistic, yet still fun.
From gunfire to birds, to the rustle of the trees, everything sounds great, no complaints here.
It takes some getting used to, but its very easy and becomes intuitive after the first five minutes or so.
Everything looks stunning. The character models are smooth, and the camouflage effects work out really well. The only real complaint is in some of the environments. They tend to be somewhat bland, but this does not detract from the overall gameplay.
This is my only real complaint about the game. The multiplayer seems a little one-dimensional, almost like an after-thought. This is certainly not a game to be played with a bunch of friends.
Overall (not an average): 8/10
Based on everything above, I give this game a solid rating of 8/10. No real problems detract from this gaming experience.
-Multiplayer seems like an after-thought
-Menu load time
Buy or rent? Buy if you like previous Tom Clancy games, but its at least worth a rent, no matter what games you're into.
