"A good sequel to the original Metal Gear Solid"
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for Playstation 2 was made by Konami and released in November of 2001. It is the sequel to Metal Gear Solid for Playstation which was released three years earlier.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is a sneaking game just like the game it's a sequel to. The game starts off easy but does get harder near the end. The controls are not much different then the original Metal Gear Solid. However in the original Metal Gear Solid, there was one mission: Shadow Moses. However Metal Gear Solid 2 gives the player two missions and one of the bosses is more then just one Metal Gear.
The story in Metal Gear Solid 2 is first that you're trying to get proof that the Marines is transporting a new Metal Gear. However Revolver Ocelot and Colonel Gurlukovich want to take away Metal Gear and take control of the Marines boat. The second mission you no longer play as Solid Snake yet you do team up with him as Raiden during certain parts. The second mission is Solid Snake and Otacon are trying to rescue Otacon's sister while Raiden is trying to rescue the president and take down Ocelot and his allies. The story is set up well because each part gets introduced as needed so the game follows a certain sequence.
The graphics are good. Everything is clear and detailed. The game also sounds like it's supposed to. People who were in the original Metal Gear Solid and also appear in this game are voiced by the same people. The game also looks great and a example is on the Marines boat, you shoot a bag of sugar and the sugar flows out and you actually see the bag empty after you see all the sugar on the floor.
There is one thing about this game that makes replay ability important. In this game in both missions, you can collect dog tags from enemies. When you collect enough dog tags, both Snake and Raiden get certain things to make the game more enjoyable. For example: Solid Snake would get a bandanna to give him infinite ammo, yet Raiden would get a wig that gives Raiden infinite ammo. Also it's worth trying to beat the game on the hardest difficulty because it presents a very big challenge.
I give this game a 9 out of 10. It's a great sequel and for anyone who liked the original Metal Gear Solid released three years before this game will definitely like this game.
