"As Grand as it can get."

Grandia III is one of Square-Enix's latest entries for the Playstation 2. The game starts with a boy named Yuki who wishes to become a pilot after watching a movie of his idol, Sky Captain Schmidt.

Gameplay: 10/10
This is what this game is all about. The gameplay makes up for the story almost completely. In combination with the great music in the game, you would want to battle every enemy you see. The new Aerial Combo system allows you to be more strategic with your attacks. The game also allows you to let the computer fight for you if you ever are busy. Battling is probably one of the only reasons you would play this game over and over.

The battle system is highly flexible. You can either use combos to attack your enemy with higher damage or you can use a cancel attack with can cancel your opponent's next move. The game uses an IP Gauge to determine who gets to attack. Each character can equip “Mana Eggs” to increase the damage of the corresponding magic.

Graphics: 10/10
The graphics in this game are marvelous. Every detail is beautifully drawn. The gameplay graphics looks like how the cutscenes look. You can easily tell that they have put a massive amount of effort into how the environment looks. Each character is highly detailed.

Story: 7/10
The story is a little bit cliched just like everybody else says but it's not like it's that serious. It's is interesting in it's own way. You may like the story or you may despise it but either way, you won't mind the story that much.

Music/Sound: 10/10
Just pure excellence. Every song in this game is a great one (except maybe Baccula). I always love listening to every battle theme in the game. The whole soundtrack is a very well-done one. The sound tones also sound nice.

Replayability: 6/10
There's really nothing to do after you beat the game. The only thing you can do is collect 9 of every item you can and get to level 99. Other than that, the only other reason to play this game is just so you can fight. The game is not that long so if you want to get the max out of this game, then you better start

Final Recommendation: 9/10
The gameplay itself is one of the main reasons for buying this game. If you're looking for a game to pick up, you might want to check Grandia III out.
