    1.42 Introduction
    Hi! I hope you're well! This is a guide for using Kid Gohan in Dragon Ball Z
    Budokai Tenkaichi 2. Kid Gohan is an interesting character to use. His combat
    skills aren't as good as some other characters, but he is very fast, and his
    Blast 2's can be very powerful if used properly. He can truly be a force to be
    reckoned with in the hands of a skilled user. I hope you enjoy my guide, and I
    hope that it is very useful.
    2.42 Notes on Combat
    The combat system in this game is very complex. It's easy to learn, but hard
    to master. In fact, the core fighting system is far more important to master
     than an individual character's Blast Techniques. I was going to include a
     lengthy section on this subject, but Fishbulbhead has an absolutely fantastic
     guide on this subject on GameFAQs. You can find it under the In-Depth FAQs as
    "Combat Guide." It's pretty much exhaustive, and I really recommend checking
    it out before you read any farther.
    3.42 Blast 1 Techniques
    Super Unyielding Spirit (Z + Defend)
    Cost: 2 Blast Gauges
    Effect: Gohan immediately goes into Max Power mode and gets stat boosts to
    everything. After using it, your charge speed will be drastically reduced.
    Comments: This Blast 1 is fantastic. It's a cheap fast way to get to Max
    Power. The only real drawback is that once you use it your charge speed
    will drop dramatically. It's good if you need to quickly boost yourself
    up to Max Power to give that extra kick, or maybe finish your opponent
    in style. Gohan does have Violent Rush, Dragon Heavy, Hyper Smash, and
    that ridiculous Max Power Combo, so he's got the stuff to start dishing
    out the pain in Max Power. His Ultimate Blast is pretty good too.
    Good Combos:
    Throw -> Super Unyielding Spirit
    Kiai Cannon (Full Power) ->Super Unyielding Spirit
    Smash Attack -> Super Unyielding Spirit
    Dragon Smash -> Super Unyielding Spirit
    Vanishing Attack ->Super Unyielding Spirit
    Super Unyielding Spirit -> Violent Rush -> Hyper Smash -> Bakuretsu Ranma
    Super Unyielding Spirit -> Violent Rush -> Hyper Smash -> Max Power Combo
    (Max Power Combo: First hit someone with a Dragon Heavy, which is the B
    button attack during a Dragon Dash. Then immediately after it hits, start
    tapping the A button. You'll go into a cinematic attack phase where your
    opponent can't defend against anything. When you're almost out of ki, hit
    B to send them flying. Immediately afterwards, you can hit Z and B at the
    same time to launch Masenko.)
    Defensive Strategy: Max Power can be nasty. If you see your opponent start
    to use this try your best to hit them before they manage to finish. If you
    do it'll be spoiled and they won't go into Max Power. If they do manage to
    get to Max Power, the best thing to do is launch an offense and don't let
    them get even a second of the upper hand. Just be relentless and up in their
    face until Max Power wears off.
    Hidden Energy (Z + Defend + Joystick Forward)
    Cost: 1 Blast Gauges
    Effect: Your ki bar becomes completely depleted. That's all.
    Comments: The only real way to use this is if you're into hit and run attacks.
    The reason you'd want to deplete your ki bar is because if you do your opponent
    will have a much harder time getting a Lock on you. Gohan actually has a use
    for this, though. You can hit them with Kiai Cannon to make them lose their
    use Hidden Energy, then hide for a while until you've got a couple of Blast
    Stocks. Then you can use Super Unyielding Spirit and come out of nowhere with
    a Max Power Combo, or even better Bakuretsu Ranma. Hiding really isn't my style
    though, and I've never been able to keep lock off of myself for long anyway.
    Defensive Strategy: Odds are you won't have to worry about it.
    4.42 Blast 2 Techniques
    Masenko (Z + B, Screen out Up, then bring it back)
    Cost: 2 Ki Bars
    Effect: This is Gohan's beam attack. With normal Kid Gohan, it does around 3300
    damage normally, but you can charge it to do a maximum of around 9900. If you
    hit someone else's beam attack with it, a beam battle will ensue and you'll
    have to rotate the joystick as fast as possible to win.
    Comments: I'm honestly not a big fan of beam attacks, and especially ones that
    you have to charge to get decent damage out of. They're cool, but they don't
    do their job well enough. My main problem with them is that they're easy to
    dodge, and Masenko is no exception. If you're playing against the computer
    on difficulty level 3 and you use Masenko without doing something to knock
    them flying first, they WILL dodge. I've gotten really good at dodging these
    myself. If you want to land a good Masenko, you're going to need to finish
    a combo with it. I recommend the ones listed below. I also recommend tossing a
    few ki blasts your opponent's way immediately after the beam, because there's
    nothing quite like getting nailed with a few itsy bitsy blasts right after
    getting jacked in the face with a Masenko. Masenko has a slight advantage in
    that I think it's slightly faster to prepare than other beam attacks.
    Good Combos:
    Kiai Cannon -> Masenko (Don't Charge)
    Lift Strike -> Masenko (Don't Charge)
    Throw -> Masenko (Don't Charge)
    Smash -> Masenko(Don't Charge)
    Dragon Smash -> Masenko (Don't Charge)
    Defensive Strategy: There's a bunch of different ways to beat a Masenko,
    like I mentioned. You can sidestep it, teleport out of the way, block it
    completely if you're using Perfect Stance, hurt your opponent while he's
    charging, move to a bad angle so that he'll miss, launch your own beam to
    start a beam war, or if you're far enough away you can dash in circles around
    him until he fires, then attack him from behind while he's busy firing his
    Gekiretsu Madan (Z + B, Cursor out to the right, then cursor back)
    Cost: 2 Ki Bars
    Effect: This is Gohan's "Vegeta Style" attack. What I mean by "Vegeta Style"
    is that he launches 8 Bajillion blasts at the enemy until you can't actually
    see them anymore and yet never seems to get the job done. I call it "Vegeta
    Style" because I seem to remember Vegeta doing this a whole lot in the show.
    Fortunately, it's much more effective here. Depending on how many it, it can
    do a maximum of around 8000 to 9000 damage with no extra levels in Blast 2.
    Comments: This is Gohan's better Blast 2. Gekiretsu Madan (and all similar
    attacks) are nearly impossible to completely dodge unless you were already
    moving when it's fired or if you were a really long way away.
    Good Combos:
    You don't really need a combo. Just fire. This technique is easily spammable
    with the right Z Items though.
    Defensive Strategy: Dodging this is really tough. Even harder than Rush
    Blasts. Your best bet is to use After Image Strike, a Z Item like Perfect
    Guard or Perfect Stance to reduce the damage to 0, or if you have Super
    Movement it helps if you're in Max Power and actually able to use it. Good
    5.42 Ultimate Blast
    Bakuretsu Ranma (Z + B, Wave Nunchuck twice, Quickly move Wii Remote Forward)
    Cost: Max Power mode (1 Blast Gauge), 4 Ki Bars
    Effect: Gohan hits his opponent eleven times, then kncoks them away and hits
    them with eleven rather large ki blasts for around 12000 damage.
    Comments: This is a pretty good move. It does a lot of damage and it knocks
    your opponent away. The best part is that it's a Rush Blast so it's really
    hard to dodge, and since Gohan can immediately go to Max Power with 2 Blast
    Stocks, he can use it frequently.  If you've got a Turtle Stone and a Halo,
    you can even add a Gekiretsu Madan immediately afterwards and it might even
    add to the Combo counter.
    Defensive Strategy: The best defense is to prevent them from using it by
    preventing them from getting to Max Power. Barring that, you should get good
    at teleport dodging rush blasts.
    6.42 Z-Item Strategy (Potarra)
    Now it's time to rig your Kid Gohan with all the stuff that he'll need to be the
    best. I'm going to list my personal Kid Gohan as an example, then list off
    useful Ability and Support items and explain the reasons they're useful. Oh
    yeah, you can also make a "perfect" character at level 160 by giving him five
    "Kiss of 18"s or five "Title: Tenkaichi"s, but in my opinion that's pretty

    Equipment Slot +3 - To get a full complement of Slots.
    The Turtle Stone - To make it so that I can easily follow up a Blast 2 with
    another Blast 2.
    Blast 2 +19 - Gohan has some fantastic Blast 2 Powers.
    Oolong's Support - I want some more Ki, and I don't want to neglect my health
    either. This gives me some of both, and I get to save some slots.
    Perfect Stance - If you notice, I didn't put a whole lot into defense or
    health. This is to try and make up for it.
    Halo - Gohan's Blast 2's are on the cheap side already, but since I use them
    so often, I really like to make them dirt cheap.
    Ultimate Blast +19 - The ability to suddenly go into max power and wail on your
    enemy with Bakuretsu Ranma is nice.
    If you haven't noticed, this is designed to be a technical build using Blast 2's
    very frequently.
    Ability Items
    Health: Health gives you more life. This one is extremely important, but
    depending on how you build your Kid Gohan, you may only need something like
    Oolong's Support.
    Ki: Ki affects how fast you charge your ki bar. Since Kid Gohan's Blast 2's
    are really good, and his Ki Blast is actually accurate, you might want to
    give him this, though I recommend something that increases something else
    at the same time, like Oolong's Support.
    Attack: Increases your attack power. Gohan is fast. Very fast. You could turn
    him into a melee fighter, but I tend to get more distance out of using a lot
    of Blast 2's. I recommend ignoring your Attack stat, and focusing on your
    Blast 2's though.
    Defense: Lessens the damage that you take. This would be useful for Gohan
    since his life isn't very high to begin with, but I opted to just go for
    Perfect Stance. Your call.
    Speed: This increases the speed of your attacks. Gohan is really fast as it is,
    so you shouldn't bother.
    Equipment Slots: The goal with these is to max out the number of Z items you
    can equip while giving yourself the biggest bonuses that you can.
    Unfortunately there aren't any +3 Support items that give any bonuses that
    Gohan can equip, so your best bet is to go for the +3 item here.
    Blast 1: These increase the rate at which you get blast stocks. Gohan's first
    Blast 1 is awesome, but there are better places to put your items.
    Blast 2: This increases the damage that your Blast 2 techniques do. Gohan's
    Blast 2's are fantastic. I really recommend giving him one of these.
    Ultimate Blast: This increases the damage that your Ultimate Blast does.
    Gohan's Ultimate Blast works pretty well. I really recommend giving him this.
    Especially if you have a Turtle Stone. Then you can chain his UB with a B2.
    Support Items
    There are a lot of these. Most of them are useless for Gohan. I list the ones
    that I recommend, and why I recommend them.
    MAX POWER Plus: You'll be able to use max power mode for longer when you get
    there. This will give you more time to get off your Ultimate Blast or your
    Max Power combo.
    Abandonment Essence: There is no ki cost to teleport sidestep. If you use this
    move a lot (it can be very handy) you may want to pick this up. The cost isn't
    that substantial, but it's worthwhile if you use it a lot. This helps Gohan
    because he relies on speed and dodging quite a bit. It's handy to have.
    Hit Essence: You know how annoying it is when guard breaks make you run out of
    ki and you have to hit the A button a bunch of times to recover? Well with
    this guard breaks won't do that. It's very nice, but in my opinion, there are
    better items to use.
    Perfect Guard: If you suck at dodging energy based Blast 2s you should
    probably practice more. But you could also use this Z-Item so you can just
    guard and the damage will be 0.
    Inescapable Menace: You can teleport out of the way even if you're dizzy.
    Nice huh?
    Master's Essence: I'm not absolutely positive on this one, but I believe that
    this is a combination of Abandonment Essence and Hit Essence, which makes
    sense because you make one when you fuse those two together. It also gives you
    a +5 to your ki score. Not bad, eh? If you can get your hands on one it's
    better than either of the aforementioned essences.
    Master's Protection: This one's like Perfect Guard, but it also halves dizzy
    time and gives you +5 to your defense score. If you can get one, this is
    better than Perfect Guard. (Hint: You fuse Perfect Guard and Quick Recover)
    Halo: If you're working on a Blast 2 based build, you will want this. It will
    make your Blast 2's dirt cheap. 1 Ki Bar each. Things can really get ridiculous.
    Title Tenkaichi: All abilities +4. Five of these and you'll max out all
    stats. It's kind of boring though...
    Puar's Support: Gives a very nice sized boost to Attack and Defense. You could
    use it if you only want to dedicate one slot to them both, which really might
    be a good option for you if you want to do decent damage and take decent damage
    and you don't want to sacrifice two slots for it.
    Oolong's Support: Same reasons why Puar's Support is good. The exact same
    thing but with Ki and Health. I don't like skimping on health, but It really
    works well for Gohan since you'll be wanting to hit them from a distance anyway.
    Chichi's Support: Shouldn't Gohan have this anyway? You can teleport dodge when
    you're dizzy and you get a boost to your energy. This is a better option than
    Inescapable Menace.
    Kiss of #18: Just like Title Tenkaichi, but even better since it gives +1 to
    Dragon Homing.
    Micro Band: You can teleport dodge when you're dizzy, and once per battle your
    health will go back to 1 if it goes to 0. Slightly better than Inescapable
    Menace, but if you got knocked out before, where's 1 HP going to get you?
    Eternal Life: Your life bar slowly regenerates. Kind of useful. Far better
    things to put in the slot though.
    Shenron's Record: It gives you +15 levels to your Ultimate Blast and it gives
    you two more uses for Dragon Homing in a row. Very useful indeed. It's a bit
    more to melee for a bit less Ultimate damage.
    Perfect Stance: Guard prevents all damage and you can teleport when you're
    dizzy. I really like this one. This is essentially Perfect Guard and
    Inescapable Menace wrapped into one item, and is the best of either series.
    Kid Gohan Specific Strategies
    I will now list a general strategy for using Kid Gohan.
    General Strategy
    Essentially with this you want to get hit them fast and hard. Equip
    Abandonment Essence so you can quickly get around your opponent, then throw
    them or knock them away with Kiai Cannon. Follow this with a Blast 2. This
    works very well. You can also throw in a Super Unyielding Spirit and a
    Bakuretsu Ranma for some variety and some harshness. Gohan does indeed flip
    out and try to kill people like that in the show. Sadly, I do not believe
    that he is a ninja.
    For this one you'll need the Turtle Stone, a Halo, decent Ki, and high Blast
    2. Shoot them with Gekiretsu Madan. Charge. When they get up, shoot them with
    Gekiretsu Madan. Repeat. Best used against a computer, or you're risking a
    punch to the face.
    Giant Opponent
    Giant's can be intimidating, but Hirudegarn isn't as broken as (he/she?) might
    seem at first. The best way to handle giants as Kid Gohan is to use the spamming
    strategy as listed above. Hey, he tried to step on you! You're perfectly
    justified in being a dick!
    My Opponent is Spamming Rush Blast 2's
    I hate Videl. I really hate Videl. The best way to counter this is to get
    really good at dodging these and prove they don't work on you anymore. Or you
    could get really good at moving the joystick in circles and Dragon Dash
    straight on and then launch into Masenko or Gekiretsu Madan. Or you could
    start spamming Gekiretsu Madan.
    My Opponent is Spamming Blast Volley Blast 2's
    Whoever they're using, I think Kid Gohan with a Halo and a Turtle Stone
    probably do it better. Unless it's Vegeta. It's a bit of a toss up,
    seeing how awesome Gekiretsu Madan is. So basically, spam them back.
    My Opponent is Spamming Super Explosive Wave
    Punch him in the face. In real life. No, just kidding. (Sort of) I don't have
    a really good solution to this. Stay as far away as you can and start spamming
    Gekiretsu Madan. I love how my solution to every annoying problem is to blast
    the hell out of the guy with Gekiretsu Madan. SHOOT HIM! SHOOT HIM NOW!!!
