Since the Uncharted series is about worldwide quests for treasure and archaeology, Sony appropriately had Harrison Ford (AKA Indiana Jones) promote Drake's Deception in Japan.

Drake's Deception has a double meaning. It refers to Sir Francis Drake deliberately abandoning his mission to find the secret of Iram of the Pillars and hiding all traces of it from Queen Elizabeth. It also refers to Nate deceiving everyone - including himself - into believing he is Drake's descendant.

In the very last scene, Sully reveals to Nate and Elena that he's bought another seaplane. Aside from the green paint job, it's identical to the Hog Wild, which was destroyed in Drake's Fortune. Sully even mentions the event, and the others jokingly ask if the new plane has parachutes. This is also a callback to the torn parachute Nate had to use to escape the crash. Sully offhandedly mentions that the events of Drake's Fortune happened four years before Drake's Deception, much like the real-life release dates of the Uncharted series.

Nate's taunt, "Kitty got wet!" was improvised by Nolan North. He explained that he got the phrase from his 8 year-old son, who said it after beating his father in a Wii Tennis match.

After carrying it around since the start of the series, Nate loses Francis Drake's ring during the collapse of Iram of the Pillars. In the final scene, however, Sully returns Nate's wedding ring, which he'd been keeping safe all along. Thus Nate is finally able to leave his fake identity and Drake's legacy behind, and start a new one by marrying Elena.

Famous Quotes

T.E. Lawrence: All men dream. But not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to realise it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men. For they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible. This, I did.

Connection to Other Media

The plot makes several references T.E. Lawrence, whose adventures in Arabia during the Arab Revolt of 1916 – 1918 made him one of the most famous men of the 20th Century. Nate also quotes from Lawrence's novel, the Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Much of the cinematography in the game's desert sequence is an homage to Lawrence of Arabia, an iconic film that depicted his exploits.
