"Solid Snake's final mission. Does it live up to hype?"

Metal Gear Solid 4 was a highly anticipated game for the Playstation 3. Fans have been waiting for around 3 and a half years (after the release of MGS3) for this game. Hideo Kojima, who is known for his powerful storytelling and plot twists, has honestly gone all out on Metal Gear Solid 4. But did it live up to the hype?

Gameplay (10/10)

The gameplay of this game is incredible because you choose how you want to play. The Metal Gear Solid series falls under the genre of "Stealth", but even if you are not into stealth games, you can play the game First Person Shooter style throughout the whole game.

There are also over 70 weapons (all customizable) and any extra weapons you find can be traded in for "Drebin Points" to upgrade your weapons.

Story (10/10)

Something the Metal Gear Solid series has been praised for is its very deep story and plot twists. Every act leads to an even greater part of the story and makes you believe that you are watching a 5/5 star action movie rather than a stealth game. This game has its very serious action moments, but not without a side or romance and comedy on the side. It is true that the cutscenes can be very long, but the story is so addicting, it will leave wanting more.

Graphics (10/10)

The graphics are awesome. The character models and scenery look gorgeous and I sometimes find myself looking at the scenery more than the enemies. The facial expressions are so realistic that you can almost feel what the characters emotions are. It is true that some parts of the game may look kind of dirty or grainy, but it makes the game look better since most of the places you visit aren't exactly well clean places.

Sound (10/10)

The sound sounds very realistic thanks to 5.1 surround sound. Every time you fire a gun or hear a explosion, you can almost hear them echo throughout the room and make you feel like you are actually there.

The music is also amazing. The music score sounds like one you would hear in a movie and each song that plays fits in perfectly in every scene. Whether it's more of an fast action type song or a slow and soft romantic song, the music is fantastic.

Replayability (10/10)

Like I said before, you have over 70 customizable weapons and you can play the game stealth of FPS style. There are numerous ways you can play this game, so replayability is not a problem.

Games like Metal Gear Solid 4 don't come around very often. A game that has a deep entertaining story, graphics that look beautiful, a music score that leaves you breathless, and a game where you almost feel like you understand what the characters go through. If there was ever a game that was called a "must have", Metal Gear Solid 4 takes that title.
