The newest game by Tom Clancy, but does it live up to the Hype?
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is the second installment in the GRAW family. The game which was created by Ubisoft was released in Australia a few months ago. GRAW 2 massivly improves on the previous GRAW on the PS2 which was one of the worst games I have ever played. GRAW 2 supports up to 4 player multiplayer locally and up to 16 players online. GRAW 2 gives players the chance to experience realistic tactical military combat while in the comfort of there own home.
GRAW 2 is graced with exeptional graphics and effects making it a great tactical shooter. While some colour seems to have been lost in the transfer from the 360 to the PS3 this works well with the desert environment. Effects such as gunfire and explosions look amazingly realistic and help enagge the player in the combat scenario. The screen actually shakes when a explosion occurs which just adds to the games experience. GRAW 2 has very good graphics for an early title.
GRAW 2 also has excellent gameplay. It is a very tactically oriented game and has great combat sequences. You have to take cover frequently to avoid being shot dead. If you think the game sounds a little hard then the next point will change your mind. You command a 3 man squad (ocassionaly 5 man) that have excellent AI. They will fire on there own and also take cover and reposition to protect themselves and also you. You also have a set of commands that you can give to your men (advance, take cover, fire at will Etc) to enhance the tactical experience of GRAW 2. In certain missions you also command vehicles such as tanks and helicopters as well as your usual UAV drone and M.U.L.E which allows you to restock weapons, ammunition and health.
This is probably the most boring part of any review. GRAW 2 has excellent sound which helps you engange yourself with the shooter. Explosions are loud and crisp while the sound of gunfire is also very good. The game obviously sounds better if you have a set of massive speakers to enhance the experience.
Another one of GRAW 2's strong points is it's multiplayer. It supports 4 players locally and 16 players online. Local play is just as good and single player and net play is also great providing you have suitable net speed. GRAW 2 offers all the classic modes such as deathmatch and capture the flag but also adds co-op modes and even a campaign mode. I personally like net play more as you can have more players and the experience just seems to be better in a more packed environment full of bad guys. The multiplayer modes become easier with the help of a headset so you can communicate with your team mates
So if your looking for a good tactical FPS with excellent graphics, gameplay, sound and Multiplayer GRAW 2 should be your first choice!
