"LittleBigPlanet!!! More like LittleBigAwesome!!!"

LittleBigPlanet is from developers Media Molecule. It was suppose to be one of Sony's big games, but with tons of delays does this game live up to the hype?

Gameplay 9/10

LittleBigPlanet is a 2D platformer with a twist. There are three plains (foreground, centre plain and background) that your Sackboy jumps too and from. Along with the basic run and jump, you can also grab and activate switches. The gameplay is simple and fun.

As you probably know by now a big part of LBP is the user-generated content. Playing other peoples levels couldn't be easier thanks to LBP slick interface. It shows the best and most popular levels to insure the best levels rise to the top. LBP isn't short on unique user-generated content. The imagination of gamers has made levels like Super Mario Bros. 2, Azure Palace, a ton of MGS4 levels and one superb Mirrors Edge level. After playing all these levels it gets your brain thinking on how they made it and then you start experimenting yourself. All the tools are easy to use. There is a very slick interface called the Popit Menu that can be opened at any time. There is also pre-made content from Media Molecule so even if you are not that imaginative you can still make a fairly basic level. To make a proper level you will have to put a lot of time into it, but it's so satisfying finishing a level, publishing it and then watching how the LBP users react to it. When one of your levels gets 100 plays and great comments there is nothing more satisfying.

Graphics/Sound 10/10

The graphics in this game are great. Truely just beautiful. Sackboy is so cute, all the backgrounds are colourful and vivid and each material is easily distinguishable from the next. Sackboy has a number of facial expressions that can be done easily by just pressing the d-pad buttons and the more you press it the more the expression becomes obvious and all these expressions look great.

As for the sound, the musical score is fantastic, but there are also a number of sound effects that always seem appropriate for the task at hand.

Play Time/Replayability 10/10

You'll be playing this game for years to come thanks to excellent online and easy level-making capabilities that will soon have even the least creative people trying it out.

To cap off this review LBP is a near perfect game, but with a short and almost non-existent storymode that's not even worth mentioning it's so near perfect that I feel like crying because if they had made the storymode good it would definitely get a 10. If you're on PSN get it. If not it's passable.
