Multiplayer problems in COD4?

  1. I have problems playing any multiplayer games on COD4, including online, split screen, and LAN. The screen freezes when I attempt to load a split screen game or LAN match. When i try to play online, it stays on the downloading game settings screen. I am connected to my school's network and had to change the mac address on my computer to connect my PS3 to the network. I have been able to play NBA live 08 online. Any suggestions?

  2. If you are using wireless that may be the prob. WiFi isn't really reliable for gaming, especially for games with many people and lots of moving. Use the ethernet cable.

  5. Well it just may be your ps3. Mine was acting the same then it started messing up the other games but if you decide to send it to sony you get a big fat bill for about 300 dollars.

  6. I have had the same problem for about a month now, since the last update curiously. I try to load an online game and it says downloading game settings and freezes if i let it sit there long enough. The weird thing is that my roomates ps3 does the same thing. When I am signed in, I cannot make or join a LAN game getting an error stating "no network connection detected". So I sign out and make a LAN game, blow up a few cars, sign in to PSN, blow up a few more cars in the same LAN game, and then end the game. After that neither my roomat or I have problems getting into online games. However just recently I have been getting a new error, "Couldn't get free content pack index". So I'm going to try deleting the update data and re downloading it. I'll post again with the results later on tonight.

  7. Sorry, forgot to get on last night. I delete and reinstalled the update data from game data utility, and it seems to work like a charm now. I was up until about 5am central time playin matches and my roomate was able to keep up with the party and never got disconnected. It would definitely be worth a shot for anyone experiencing these issues.

  8. I'm having the exact same problem. I've been using my school's network to play COD4, or at least trying. It is very hit or miss depending on the network. Unfortunately, X-Box Live works better for some unknown reason with COD4 than PSN. I'd say try to connect, wait five minutes, if it doesn't connect, you'll have to wait. It is very hit or miss with mostly misses.

Also, the connection window is short. I played for 43 minutes and then I had a freeze-up, but that might have been the host game crashing. Either way I was unable to play at that time. I'm looking into other methods, but at this time only hoping it will work this time seems to be the solution. I'll post back if I find something at works more permanently.
