    Intro

Hello and welcome to my very first ever FAQ walkthrough! Wonder Boy The Dragon's Trap is a fantastic game which I played as a kid on the Sega Master System. I loved it then and so I leapt at the chance to get the remake and I loved every minute of it! This guide will show you where to go to get a 100% complete walkthrough...You'll be defeating every boss, conquering every dungeon, collecting every heart container and acquiring a full inventory of equipment. The Dragon's Trap is a short game if you don't take your time with it. I did a 100% walkthrough after writing this guide on hard mode and I did it on two hours! Nevertheless, this is a wonderful game and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I'm not going to go over controls, basics etc. This is a straight forward walkthrough that tells you where to go and when you can do optional things at the earliest opportunities. Finally, this game assumes you are playing on Normal mode. I will however give you a few tips...

    Tips

    • Always be on the lookout for better equipment. There is no levelling up system in this game so your attack and defense stats are only as good as your equipment. Obtaining good equipment makes the difference in dungeons. Do you want to be the hunter or the hunted? If you're struggling, go grind for gold and purchase some good equipment!
    • Bonus rooms are great for money. When you die, they replenish. But if you quit your game (it autosaves) and then reload, the chests will be replenished. There are several chests that give you hundreds (even thousands!) of gold, so visiting them several times is a good idea.
    • The quit and reload strategy as above is useful for other scenarios. Are you about to die? Quit and reload to be back in The Village where you can heal. Just finished an Unknown area? Quit and reload or you'll have to walk back through the area. Miles away from a warp area? Quit and reload.
    • Hard mode - Enemies take more hits to defeat. The final areas of dungeons will have more yellow enemies who inflict lots of damage. And finally, there is a timer next to your health. Your health will periodically take a hit, so time is of the essence. This s particularly true near the start of the game when you only have two or three hearts.

    Walkthrough

    Prologue

    The Last Dungeon

Ironically named as it's the start of the game! As Hu-Man, proceed through and vanquish the enemies. When you reach a spring platform, take the upper ledge with the blue snake (taking the wrong turn in this dungeon makes you restart! Continue right and drop down the first hole you reach. On the next screen, drop down the left hole. Head left and up the steps. Keep going left until you reach a door. Hold up on the D-Pad to open and it's boss time already!

    Boss: Meka Dragon

This is a relatively simple boss fight. The only issue here is with timing. Jump and slash at his head to damage him. Watch his movements and wait for him to finish his fire attack before going in for a strike. He will retaliate with his fire attack after you hit him, so be sure to jump out of the way!

Once he's defeated, collect as much cash as you can whilst avoiding the blue flame. If the money stops appearing, then let yourself be hit by the flame. You have just fallen victim to the dragon's curse! You are now in the form of Lizard-Man. Having dropped from eight hearts to one will pose a problem. Fortunately you still have your legendary armor and sword. Use your fire attacks to hit enemies from a short distance to avoid damage. Go right one screen, defeating every Cyclops that crosses you until you defeat a green one who will drop a key for the door on the far right. Take your time on the next screens to avoid falling blocks. Once you reach a dead end, wait for the blocks to fall to create a staircase. Jump out of the hole and go left to trigger a cut scene and begin the game proper!

    Chapter 1 – Lizard-Man!

    Controlling Lizard-Man

Lizard-Man has terrible defenses...No armor at this stage of the game will grant you much additional defenses. Starting this chapter you only have one heart and have now defaulted to the weakest armor and weapons in the game! Luckily, Lizard-Man's ranged attacks will help you avoid direct contact with enemies. Lizard-Man can also crouch and shoot fire which is helpful for dodging fireballs (no shield means no auto-blocking!) and hitting short enemies. Lizard-Man can smash breakable blocks (once the Thunder Ring is obtained) by hitting them from below whilst jumping a-la Super Mario! Finally, Lizard-Man is immune to lava, even without the Dragon Mail equipped.

You will find yourself in the village with the afore mentioned terrible equipment. You'll find yourself in the village a lot, so familiarise yourself with the place. From the starting point you can enter the door closest to you to meet the fortune teller. He will give you tips if you're stuck...but you're reading an FAQ so he's worthless :) or you can press Triangle to enter a retro password to cheat (see cheat codes further on if you want to take the fun out of the game!).

The next door leads to a well. This will also be the site of a transformation room allowing you to switch forms. Jump down the well and go right to reach the beach area. Don't worry about drowning, you can't! You just can't swim as Lizard-Man. The door at the entrance to the Beach area will take you back to the village.

Directly above the door to the beach is a shop. Here you can buy the Mithril set of equipment. Purchase these as soon as you can to add a few extra points to your stats. Kill a few enemies at the Beach to make some cash:
    Mithril Sword: 15 gold
    Mithril Shield: 32 gold
    Mithril Armor: 44 gold

Continuing left through the village you'll reach the windmill tower. The bottom door leads to a hole, which leads to a treasure chest on the right to grant you an extra heart! The door on the left will lead you back up or you can jump above the door and press up to reach a secret shop that sells magical items if you've got the coin.

Jump on the spring to reach the upper door to the tower which is currently locked. We'll get in here soon enough. There are breakable blocks to the left of the door which will be accessible in a different form. Finally, you'll reach the medical clinic where you can pay to restore your hearts.

With all that out of the way it's time to continue our journey! Head to the beach. Don't worry about falling in the water, there's always a way back up and your fire attacks strangely work under water! Whilst above water, keep going to the right until you go to another screen. Fall in the water and go left to find a bonus room with some money and magical items if you want. Head right after leaving the room to find a door which will take you up to shore. Go right to change screen again. If the cloud enemies drive you nuts, a well timed arrow will work wonders. Once you've gone as far right as you can you'll reach a door. There are two doors available at the moment. The windowed door is a shop selling some more goodies:
    Goblin Mail: 180 gold
    Master Shield: 1980 gold

Get the Goblin Mail if you can to double your defense from what it is with the Mithril Armor. The Master Shield is probably a wee bit out of your price range for now. Plus it doesn't add any defense points for Lizard-Man...So I'll include it in the guide later once we have access to a great money making room! The other door leads to a chest with a key! This will let you access the windmill tower in the village. Either back track there or press the Options button and return to title. This will autosave the game and is a great shortcut because when you load your save you will be back in the village with all your items in tact!

Unlock the door at the tower (this door will remain unlocked forever) and spring up the tower to enter a door. Jump to the right and enter the door to be transported to the Desert area!

    **************************************************
Optional – East side of the Desert
As Lizard-Man, you can survive the lava in this area. It is not essential to go here yet unless you want the Dragon Mail. The enemies here will inflict a lot of damage on your measly two hearts so either be very careful or come back later! Continue east until you reach a hut with a door. Inside you'll find a chest with some gold and a few magical items. The other doors are a clinic and a shop:
    Dragon Mail – 300 gold

The Dragon Mail grants immunity to lava for all your other characters. Useless for Lizard-Man (although it grants a few extra defense points) but helpful when you need to return here later for some goodies whilst in different forms! Do not proceed any further than this, the enemies will take great pleasure in slaughtering you, plus there's nothing else that way yet!**************************************************

From the Desert entrance, head left/west. The enemies are not particularly tough here, though you will need to spit fire to negate the sunflowers' attacks. This requires crouching for the shorter ones. When you reach the next screen you will see ant lion enemies in the water. Time your jumps, every fourth fireball goes higher than the others which is your opportunity to jump! If you're really struggling, a Tornado or Lightning item will dispose of them.

    **************************************************
    Optional – Underwater Desert
If you fall into the water where the ant lions are, you'll reach an underwater area. To the right is something important for Lizard-Man but he doesn't have access yet. Carry on left until you reach a dead end with a door for a bonus room with some money, items and a potion. Exit the room, go right one screen and spring back up to return to land
    **************************************************

Keep going left until you reach two wells at the base of the pyramid. The first hole leads you into the pyramid.

    **************************************************
    Optional – Extra Heart
Instead of falling down the holes, jump over them and jump your way up the outside of the pyramid and then fall down the left side of it. You'll reach a Sphinx with a door. In it is a chest with an extra heart! You may notice the border of the room is not how it should be...There's more than meets the eye but we'll return here when we can smash the blocks. Return to the right side of the pyramid and fall down the right hole to resume.
    **************************************************

Go left, dodging the fireballs and go up the steps to spring up into the pyramid. Zig zag your way up the pyramid stopping at the clinic if required (boss fight incoming!) and raid the chest to get a key (you can come back here later for a free key if you don't want to purchase them).

You'll now be in the Pyramid Hall area. Attack the frogs or run underneath them. It's all pretty straight forward, just continue left dodging fireballs from the gargoyles until you reach a dead end with a gargoyle on the wall. The final pit leads you down to the boss (the pit has a blue light if you're playing with the remake graphics). Jump OVER the pit and walk through the wall behind the gargoyle for a bonus room which is handy for the upcoming boss. You'll fall through the pit when exiting the room. Go to the far left of the next room to fall through the floor. Then go right and drop down, jump up to the right twice, fall down the right hand side and then go through the door.

    Boss – Mummy Dragon

Straight off, Mummy Dragon will move towards you. As with all the dragon, they can only be hurt if you strike them in the head. Shooting fire whilst at the peak of your jump is the way to do this. After a hit, Mummy Dragon will float slightly higher. As long as you don't mess up the timing, you are able to pull three hits off in a row before he floats too high for you to reach. After this happens, run to the far left and crouch down to let him fly over you. He will stop in mid-air and shoot gas clouds at you. He will then likely fly higher up, so stand below him at all times and you won't be hit by gas clouds. Mummy Dragon will go to the side of the screen and go up and down. Wait for him to come back down to the ground before you strike him three times again. His foot will overlap the floor when he's at his lowest. If he isn't quite low enough, you will only be able to pull off one or two hits before he's too high. He will only lower himself down at the side of the screen so as long as you're not standing there you don't have to worry about him landing on you.

Once he's defeated, dodge the blue flame again and get some gold. Once you finally get hit, it's time for your next form...Mouse-Man!

    Chapter 2 – Mouse-Man!

    Controlling Mouse-Man

With a character that actually has a shield, you'll have some very welcome extra defense points. Assuming you have the Mithril Shield, this only granted +12 defense for Lizard-Man while Mouse-Man gets +32! Mouse-Man also much higher attack. In fact, out of the 6 forms, he's ranked 3rd in terms of attack power! His small stature makes him unique. He can obviously fit through gaps that are only one block high, and any fireballs that are low enough to hit him will be auto-blocked by your shield (assuming you're facing the right direction). The height can be a hindrance as he will need to jump to strike enemies that are only vulnerable higher up (such as the tall sunflowers). Finally, his special skill is the ability to stick to the checkered yellow/brown blocks. Pressing the the D-Pad or analogue stick in the direction of the block (you need to be in mid-air to stick to blocks to the side or above you) will let you latch on to it and walk up walls or upside down!

Make your way back down the pyramid (drop down two screens). When you arrive on this screen, stick to the floor that you are on and then walk to the left, down and right to stick to the underside of it. You will walk upside down through a gap and can then drop to the door. In here you'll find a chest with goodies (cash mostly). The windowed door is another shop:

    Dancing Shield: 430 gold

Grab the shield for better defenses! This one is designed specifically for Mouse-Man and grants a whopping +65 defense which no other character will get from equipping this shield! The other door provides a warp door back to the village. Proceed through as there's nothing else for Mouse-Man in the Desert right now.

There are lots of cool things for Mouse-Man to do but unfortunately there's a key item that we don't have access to yet, so your stint as Mouse-Man for now will be short lived as you have little choice but to proceed with the story! There is a VERY good shop in the tower but the chances of you having enough cash at the moment is low so we'll revisit later. Head to left side of the village and climb up the checkered blocks. On the other side of the wall is a shop:
    Knight Shield: 1140 gold
    Prince Armor: 1600 gold

Buy these if you are feeling flush, if not, come back for these later with the money making trick. The Knight Shield will give you slightly better defenses. The Prince Armor will give you MUCH better defenses and also increases the drop rate for hearts. If you can only afford one, I'd definitely recommend the Prince Armor.

Go left from here and you'll be in some fields. Carry on left jumping over the blue orbs (they can be defeated but it will take a long time with your current equipment!) and watching out for the clouds' flames. The blue ones will drop flames that chase you. Simply face towards them when they are about to hit you to block them. If the clouds give you too much grief, fire an Arrow or shoot a Lightning bolt.

When you get to some checkered blocks, take the path with the wooden sign. If you're using old school graphics, it's where the top left spiky ball is. You'll now be in The Jungle. Straight below you is another shop:
    Shogun Blade: 225 gold
    Shogun Shield: 460 gold
    Shogun Lamellar: 500 gold

If you bought the Dancing Shield earlier then the Shogun shield is worthless unless you want to collect all the equipment in the game. The Shogun Lamellar is also entirely outranked by the Prince Armor if you have that too. If not, this is a much more affordable piece or armor. But definitely grab that Shogun Blade for some extra attack power! There's honestly not much to say about the rest of the area. Just keep going left! Eventually you;ll reach a dead end with a checkered wall and hole below it. Defeat the red ghost/wisp enemy to get a key.

    **************************************************

    Optional – Extra Heart
Drop down the hole, walk up the checkered wall on the right and enter the door. The chest contains an extra heart!

    **************************************************

Climb up the left wall and keep going up. Note the location of the door as you climb. When you reach as high as you can, jump off the wall to the right so that you land on the platform with the door. This may take a few attempts! You'll now be in The Tower (not to be confused with the one in The Village!). This is a very straight forward area, you will need to zig-zag up the tower as high as you can. I recommend sticking to the ceilings to fight the wisp enemies and the bottom for the enemies with hats (the tips of the hats hit you whilst on the ceiling!!!). Try not to rush the rooms with genies as you'll run into them. The skeletons will annoy you due to their jumping with such low ceilings. When you reach the top, drop down the right hand side and you'll be on the left side of the tower, ready to climb up all over again! Reach the top to enter the door and fight...

    Boss: Dragon Zombie

This boss is actually very straight forward in comparison to the others. He will dart from side to side underneath the slime so you will need to jump over him. Eventually he will re-surface and you just need to jump and strike his head. He will then repeat this pattern until the end! If you don't strike him in time he will spew slime at you. You can block this if you're facing it head one but there is a slight chance it will break through and you will be stun locked until he's finished. He will take a fair few hits to kill but with such a simple attack pattern you shouldn't have any issues. As usual, dodge the blue flame until you're bored/unlucky to transform into...

    Chapter 3 – Piranha-Man!

    Controlling Piranha-Man

Your attack power will drop as this guy but he's much more defensive than the previous two forms. Aside from that, there really isn't much to say. His special ability, as you might have guessed, is swimming. Keep pressing the jump button underwater to swim around and reach areas your previous characters couldn't. With the Dragon Mail equipped you can even swim in lava, though there's no pools deep enough for it to be fun!

This is where you'll have so many options open to you. For now, let's get out of The Jungle. Drop down from the door (slay the red wisp below you for a free key!) and drop down the hole into the water. Swim up to the door and enter it. Grab the extra heart in the chest if you didn't earlier. You can buy potions from the shop here if you need them. The other door leads back to The Village. Before we embark on the optional stuff or the main quest, you'll need an important item. Head back to the Desert (through the windmill/tower) and head East to the lava area. Buy the Dragon Mail if you didn't earlier, you'll need it to pass. Make it all the way to the very end of the area and enter the door. Swim up through the water and enter the other door. Enter the door above the blocks and you'll reach a transformation room which allows you to swap forms. It will transform you into Lizard-Man first. Jump on the spot to transform again into Mouse-Man then exit through the door below. Now enter the right hand door and climb up the checkered blocks. Drop down to reach the chest and receive the coveted Thunder Ring! This will FINALLY allow you to smash the brown blocks! Unlike the original game, this is an accessory that's always equipped rather than being an actual sword. Smash the blocks to get out and go back through the door. You can now break the blocks to enter the middle door which leads back to the village.

Back in The Village, enter the door underneath the shop. You can smash the brown block to the left. Picking up the question mark item opens a secret door which leads to a transformation room. Next we're going to get the Magical Saber. This is actually required later on but you should get it now. Drop down the breakable blocks left of the tower/windmill as Mouse-Man. Drop down the first hole to spring back up and cling to the ceiling. Go left and drop down the highest hole. Enter the door and you'll reach another area. Smash the blocks and then climb underneath the lowest checkered platform to break the block on the left. Enter the secret door and raid the chest. With this sword equipped, any of the star blocks on the room will turn into a breakable block when struck. You'll have to equip a different sword to then break them. Make a staircase to exit the room. If you want to carry on with the main quest, head to the beach. If not, here's some extra things you can do...

    **************************************************
    Optional Stuff

    Money making trick

Go to the Sphinx on the left side of the pyramid and enter the door. You can smash these blocks now and fall through into another bonus room. There are eight chests in all. The first two primarily contain money, the rest contain magical items and the final one has a potion in it. You can only open one chest at a time but you can keep re-entering to get the other seven. Press up anywhere on the screen to go through a door and be back outside the pyramid. The pig enemy outside also tends to drop a lot of money! This secret room will be your primary source of funds for the majority of the game. If you've raided all the chests you want, you can simply press start/options and return to title. Reload your game and you can head back to plunder them again! If you want to buy ALL the optional stuff below, it'll cost a whopping 15,330 gold! Of course there's no obligation so it's entirely up to you.

    Tasmanian Sword

I'm going straight for this first as it will make your life a hell of a lot easier. Make sure you've got 1480 gold or more. As Mouse-Man, cling to the checkered blocks at the base of the windmill and smash the brown blocks below. Drop down and head left. Fall down the first hole to spring up and cling to the ceiling. Drop down the second highest hole and go left to enter The Underground. You are not meant to be here yet so be careful as the enemies will be fairly ruthless. Your goal is to keep going left until you pass the lava area. Once you've passed and gone onto the next screen, take the upper ledge (with a sunflower on it) and head left another screen. Go to the farthest left (without jumping up the small ledge) and press up to find a secret shop. Here you'll find the Tasmanian Sword for 1480 gold. Equipping this means that if you jump and press up and attack in mid-air you'll swap forms. No more worrying about having to find a transformation room!

    Crystal Equipment

As Mouse-Man, go into the upper door of the tower/windmill and climb up the checkered blocks. There's a shop up there with some great (but expensive) equipment.
    Crystal Sword: 2980 gold
    Crystal Shield: 3140 gold
    Crystal Armor: 3210 gold
It's expensive but also grants the best stats you can have at this point in the game.

    Master Shield

Go to the far East side of The Beach to find the shop that sells it for 1980 gold.

    Muramasa Blade

Drop down the breakable blocks left of the tower/windmill as Mouse-Man. Drop down the first hole to spring back up and smash the lone breakable block. Collect the question mark and enter the secret door for this weapon (800 gold). There's another item here but we can't get it yet...

    Lucky Sword and Samurai Armor

Go through the door below the Village shop to make your way to The Beach. As Piranha-Man, you can swim up through the water to the screen above. Break the blocks to access the shop selling the Lucky Sword (310 gold) and Samurai Armor (1000 gold). The Lucky Sword increases the drop rate and amount of gold dropped. For such a cheap price, it's well worth it! There's also a bonus room with money to the right of this shop, if you don't break the blocks and instead jump over. This is also a quick way of making money. You don't get as much from the Desert money making trick, but opening the chest, quitting the game, reloading and getting the chest again is fairly effective.

    Aqua Shield

As soon as you enter The Beach, drop into the water and swim left to find the door to the shop selling it for 430 gold.

    The Unknown areas

I would honestly recommend these for later in the game as the enemies cause a LOT of damage, particularly thanks to the new yellow variety of monsters, so maybe come back when you've got the best equipment. They are accessible now though if you're eager. These are new areas exclusive to the remake version. As cool as they are, they can be incredibly frustrating and can really catch you off guard if you're not ready and can easily drain your entire stock of potions AND still kill you...Also, the Tasmanian Sword will not work here so you're stuck in the specific form the level was designed for!

    The Unknown – Lizard-Man

Now you've got the Thunder Ring, go back to the Desert and drop down into the water beneath the ant lions Go right and smash the blocks with your head. The enemies here aren't too bad but you'll need to kill the frogs as quickly as you can as they're quite nimble. The majority of the area is just timing your spring jumps. Dodge the gargoyles in the second area. In the next screen, equip the Magical Saber if you have it. It was save your sanity! With it equipped you won't be able to smash the breakable blocks, trapping the cloud enemies in place. You'll have to swap to a different weapon to spring above the final part of this screen, but be sure to equip back to the Magical Saber. This area is a nightmare if you don't have the Magical Saber as you need to be careful which blocks you break with your jumps. One wrong move and you;ll have to exit and re-enter the screen. With the Saber equipped you can freely jump through without breaking anything and can jump your way to the door where your first stone awaits. Quit the game afterwards so that you are back in The Village when you reload.

    The Unknown – Mouse-Man

As Mouse-Man (obviously), break the blocks to the left of the windmill tower and fall through. Jump through the third hole and go left to reach The Underground. On this first screen, go all the way to the left until you reach the edge of the screen where two blue snakes are. Jump onto the first step and walk left, you'll go through the floor. This was one of the most annoying Unknown levels of all of them. Make your way to the left of this horrible area and climb up the left wall. This next screen is all about timing your jumps and clinging to the checkered blocks. Easier said than done! Eliminate enemies first to avoid screwing it up. Magical items help here! When you need to cling on to the first ceiling and the larger areas on the right, try to get a running jump. If you fall on this screen you're back to the one below and have to start again! The yellow enemy at the end has the key. Take him out before attempting the final red spiky enemy. Enter the door for your prize. Quit and reload for a shortcut to the village.

    The Unknown – Piranha-Man

Drop down into the water in the first area of The Beach. Head left where there's a small platform of two blocks. Stand on these and press up to enter a hidden door. The first two screens are fairly easy. The third is where it gets nasty. The yellow ghosts will hurt you! Be careful as a fourth ghost will appear behind you, getting you in a nice sandwich! The yellow Cyclops enemies also require a lot of damage to take them out. The final yellow ghost (before the gargoyle) will drop a key for the locked door ahead. Raid the chest to get your stone (and a trophy). Quit the game and reload to get back to safety in The Village.

    **************************************************

When you're ready to keep going, go to The Beach, drop down into the water in the first area and go right until you reach some breakable blocks. Go through them and swim down the hole. When you eventually swim up another hole, there's a clinic to the left if you need it. To the right is a sunken ship which has an upside down door. This leads to your next dungeon.

    **************************************************
    Optional – Extra heart

Before entering the dungeon, go right and swim down the well. Go left and you'll reach a door with the heart inside the chest!
    **************************************************

Welcome to The Shipwreck. The primary enemies here are the ghosts. The red ones won't cause many problems as they just flail around in front of you but try not to run straight into them. You'll meet the green ones in the next room who shoot fireballs at you and like to get you into a pincer attack. Be careful of the green Cyclops in the next room who will launch rocks at you after he's been hit. The room with the blue ghosts is the final room before the boss. This room may also annoy you the most! Enter the door at the end for the next boss fight.

    Boss – Captain Dragon

Another boss with a very simple attack pattern but slightly more vicious...All he will do is jump about. Wait for him to be near the end of his landing and then jump up and slash him in the face. His attack is to fire lots of hooks which will bounce off the floor. They all lead the same path so it's not as bad as it sounds but sometimes it's not always obvious how far the next bounce will be so it can be tricky to avoid. Once he's dead, you can transform again!

    Chapter 4 – Lion-Man!

    Controlling Lion-Man

Ah, good old Lion-Man...an absolute powerhouse when it comes to attack and also an incredible defense! Lion-Man will rip enemies into shreds! His sword strike isn't a forward lunge but a vertical slice. This means that his range is much better than the other forms. This also means he can strike blocks/enemies above and below him!

You'll emerge at the beach on the far right hand side. Enter the door to the right of you. If you didn't buy the Master Shield here earlier, get it now. It offers amazing defense for Lion-Man unless you managed to fork out for the Crystal Shield. Smash the block at this hut to open a door that returns you to the village.

    **************************************************
    Optional

    Unknown – Lion-Man

Go back to the beach, head right into the second screen, drop down into the water and go right. In the original graphics you'll see breakable blocks on the floor. In the remake, you'll have to slash the floor where the red /pink seaweed is in the foreground to fall into Lion-Man's Unknown area. Enter the left hand door (right takes you back out), kill the enemies and enter the other door. You'll likely take a hit from the ninja. Be sure to kill him ASAP as he'll rack up some serious damage. Break through the blocks whilst protecting yourself from the gargoyles. Once you go through the door, equip the Magical Saber to save yourself. The ninjas will take more hits but it'll let you cross safely. If you have fireballs, use them against the samurai. Enter the door for your next stone! Quit and reload to escape safely.

    Extra Heart

To the left of the windmill/tower are some breakable blocks. Fall down here and smash the next of blocks beneath you and fall down that hole. Head right and break all the blocks to find the chest with the heart. Smash the blocks on the left to reach the exit.
    **************************************************

When you're ready, drop down the hole with the breakable blocks left of the windmill/tower. When you reach the set of four holes, jump on the ledge of the second one so that you can jump into the third hole. If done correctly, you'll be on top of the ledge and can head left into The Underground. At the first split, take the upper path. At the next one, take the lower. On the next screen, take the lower path. You'll be at a lava pit now. If you struggle with the platforming, be sure to equip the Dragon Mail to prevent any damage from falling in. On the next screen you'll see a broken clinic sign on the lower area. Stand beneath it and press up for a secret door if you need healing. Cross the lava, taking care of the ghosts.

At the next path split, take the upper one for the hidden door to the Tasmanian Sword if you didn't come here earlier, otherwise take the lower path. On the next screen you'll notice an empty space below you that seems inaccessible. If you stand lined up with the inside of the right wall, you'll enter a hidden door that puts you in that area. Go to the far left and press up for another hidden door with a chest full of money and a potion. Leave the room and press up on the right hand side to get back out of the hole. Go left and take the upper path. Jump over the gap to reach a door leading to the next area.

This is where the game can be quite unforgiving if you don't have decent armor as the enemies here are capable of inflicting a lot of damage. I also didn't truly appreciate magical items until I died here a few times! Head to the right and you'll encounter your first ninja...Man these guys are annoying. They're fire a throwing star at you which you should be able to block easily. They'll then jump directly behind you and then throw another star. Remain calm and simply take a small step forward and turn around and strike as he lands. Next are the samurais. They will jump backwards when you strike. The red ones aren't much trouble. You can wait until they are almost touching you to strike, but the best thing to do is strike as they land their backwards jump. Soon you'll find a doorway so go through it.

You're now in The Daimyo Temple. There will be ninjas and samurais galore! All I can say is that you need to be alert at all times and don't be afraid to use magical items if they start to overwhelm you. Fireballs are a great strategy against the green and blue samurais as they will also shoot orbs at you when they jump back. Beware of the ninjas standing on pots! Their throwing stars will hit you in the face! When you reach an actual wooden door, this will lead you to the boss. To the right of this door just before the right hand wall is a hidden door. The chest inside has a big heart (to replenish all your life) and a potion. Enter the door when you're ready.

    Boss – Daimyo Dragon

Like the samurais, he will fire orbs at you. These can be tricky to avoid. He'll also walk towards you and try to strike you. Laughably, as long as you're not backed up against the left wall, if you simply stand still he will strike without hitting you and then back off! He will also fire the orbs from the same place (until attacked, then he simply fires from slightly further back), so if you figure out where the safe spots to stand are to avoid them, you can literally stand there for as long as you like and you won't be hit by his sword or orbs! I literally typed this out while he made a fool of himself. When you're ready to hit him, jump and slash his head when he's in the middle of firing the orbs.

    Chapter 5 – Hawk-Man!

    Controlling Hawk-Man

After having such a powerful character, you'll be disappointed in Hawk-Man who has much lower attack and defense bonuses from your equipment. In fact he is the second weakest character (after Lizard-Man). Hawk-Man's saving grace is his ability to (yep, you guessed it) fly. You'll be able to reach new places and can pretty much access everything in the game bar a couple of post game pieces. Hawk-Man doesn't swim! You'll take damage if you are in water.

Fly up above the entrance to see a door higher up the building. Enter it and open the chest for some goodies. The shop in here sells a wonderful piece of armor:

    Hades Armor: 2000 gold

You can only carry 3 potions, but this acts as a fourth potion. When you die without any potions left, you'll get an extra revival. Enter the other door to return to the village. If you picked up the Magical Saber, you can go straight to the end of the game if you like.

    **************************************************
    Optional Stuff

    Hidden shop

Fly up to where the door to the Desert is and fly underneath it. Press up and you'll find a secret shop that sells Lightning and potions.

    Heavenly Shield

A shield made especially for Hawk-Man. To get here, fly to the right side of the Village and over the ledge. There's a shop right below you that sells the Heavenly Shield for 3980 gold and also keys (but you can get them for free elsewhere!).

    Extra Heart

From the first screen of the beach, head left one screen and fly up through the ceiling to find a chest with the heart.

    Legendary Sword

From The Village, fly to the right and keep going. You'll eventually end up back at Meka Dragon's castle from the beginning of the game. Get a key (either buy one or grab one from the chest in the pyramid for free) and unlock the castle. Follow the same route to his lair (upper path, fall down the hole, drop down left, keep going left to the door). Inside the door is a chest containing your old sword!

    Legendary Armor

Same as above, but once you've dropped down twice, head right instead. The blue Cyclops will drop a key and you can enter the door. Fight the next blue Cyclops you see and he'll drop the armor.

    Better money making trick

Repeat the process for the Legendary Sword (quit the game and reload if you've literally just got the sword). The castle will now be unlocked so you don't need to worry about keys. Go back to Meka Dragon's lair and the chest will now shower you with coins. This is much closer than the Desert one and gives you a lot more money! Quit the game, open your save and go back to get more!

    Legendary Shield

Back at the entrance to The Old Castle, go right from the door and into the well/hole. You won't fall through. Instead, press up to find a hidden shop. The shield costs 5440 gold (bit unfair since it's yours!).

    The Unknown – Hawk-Man

Go to the Desert and fly all the way to the right over the lava. Above the dead end is a gap you can fly through. Time your jumps/flying over the ant lions Whip out a few Tornadoes if they give you trouble. Avoid the water in the next room whilst also avoiding the spring blocks that may knock you off course. In the room with two yellow Cyclops enemies, stay where you are and mash that attack button! They'll be knocked back enough that their ranged attack won't reach you. As annoying as they are, fight the frogs as one of them has the key to the door. Go through and grab the stone.

    Gallic Sword

If you've now got all five stones from the Unknown areas, break the blocks left of the windmill tower and drop down. Smash the single block and enter the secret shop. The Gallic Sword is now available for purchase for 2017 gold. It is the strongest weapon in the game and also makes enemies drop a lot of magical items. I'd recommend stocking up before the final dungeon.

If you've been following my guide closely then you should have a full set of equipment! Nothing left to do but face the final boss...
    **************************************************

As Hawk-Man, fly up to the top of the windmill tower exterior, then fly to the left. You'll see a door surrounded by breakable blocks. Break them open and unlock the door (buy one at the shop just over the right wall of the village for 250 gold or get one from the pyramid for free). Equip the Magical Saber and strike the central star block. Now equip a different sword and smash that block. Grab the question mark and enter the new door! Enter the castle where you will alternate between characters and use their skills to get you through the dungeon! Poor Lizard-Man doesn't get a go...If you're feeling sorry for him, use the Tasmanian Sword and let him tackle the first room! There's a clinic here if you need it. If not, fly up through the ceiling to continue. Dodge the gargoyles until you reach a door with a transformation chamber (or use the Tasmanian Sword).

Turn into Mouse-Man and climb round the upper right of the blocks. Jump to the right through the invisible wall. When you drop, jump up and right to get out. When you reach some steps, jump up the first one and walk through the wall. Drop down and you'll see a door. Enter it for a chest with the final heart container! Go left and smash the block at the end. Spring up to the left through the wall and then drop down. In this room, you can simply drop to the right and walk through an invisible wall on the left where the ledges are.

Drop into the water and switch to Piranha-Man. Swim through the water and open the other door, then do the same in the next room. Time your movements with the fireballs and watch out for ninjas! In the next room, defeat some samurais until you reach the next door.

Transform into Lion-Man and smash through the blocks. Keep dropping down until you're in a dark area. Can you feel the finale nearing? In the next screen you'll get juggled by the gargoyles' fireballs whilst the ninja wails on you. Keep pressing right and enter the door. Drop down the left (tiptoe over the edge and the ghost won't appear) then go right to fall through the floor. Jump up the dark step on the left, fall down and go right. In this next room, fall down the hole in the middle and press up to find a transformation room.

Switch to Hawk-Man and fly up to the right. Keep flying up as far as you can and then had right through the wall. Smash the block if you like. This is it...the final boss.

    Boss – Vampire Dragon

This guy is annoying...You might think to go for his head, but his proper head isn't vulnerable. Instead, you need to strike the face on his belly. This is not as easy as it sounds as his fireballs cause a lot of damage and stun lock you. He also flies on and off the screen. If you can dodge his attacks, I would recommend waiting until he flies off and comes back slightly higher up than the ground. This is the best opportunity to jump and strike. A lot of this battle relies on luck...Sometimes he fires at you, sometimes he doesn't, so going in for a hit could either be successful or disastrous. The magical items are extremely helpful here. If he's not where you want him to be (e.g. at the top of the screen, use a Lightning item and he'll fly off screen. Here you can hope that he comes back in an ideal position for you to strike. If you have the best armor and weapons, you'll have a MUCH easier time than I did on my first play through! Finally, you can use the Tasmanian Sword prior to entering the room (possible during, please confirm) so if you don't want to fight as Hawk-Man, you can switch to Lion-Man (or even Lizard-Man for ranged attacks) and make a joke out of this boss!

Collect the cross after battle and there you have it...you are returned to your Hu-Man form and have completed the game! But wait! There's more...

    Epilogue – Post Game

You can now play as Hu-Man (or Hu-Girl) who has the highest stats of all characters (slightly beating Lion-Man). If you go to the left side of the village there's now a door that wasn't there before. Enter it to reach:

    The Unknown – Hu-Man

The first part in itself is incredibly frustrating You need to be able to jump from the spring boxes onto the blocks on the right. Getting caught by fireballs screws it up and if you're stuck at the bottom you're likely to take more hits trying to get back out! If you are stuck, try jumping on the very right hand tip of the lower spring box and immediately pressing right. Turn around and hopefully you'll block the fireball. In the next room, kill the clouds, one of which will drop a key. In order to make the next jumps, you'll need to again jump on the furthest right hand part of the spring box and then keep going right. If you're not far enough to the right you simply won't make the jump. Through the door and you'll be in a maze like area. If you fall through the floor you'll then fall through from the top of the screen! Smash the blocks to reveal spring blocks, but don't smash more than you need. When you spring up to a ledge, DON'T smash the next block. Jump over and keep heading right. Keep going to the farthest right side of the screen and jump up to the next block. You're going to need to jump off this final spring by standing next to it, jumping and VERY SLIGHTLY tapping right and then immediately press left as hard as you can. You will hopefully make the ledge on the screen above. If not, you'll fall back down but not back to where you jumped from...Drop down and press left. There are two yellow ninjas who will need to be dispatched quickly. Once you've done that, keep going left until you reach a gargoyle. Face the gargoyle and crouch down so that his fireball pushes you backwards. Keep doing this until you're under the gap and then enter the door for the final stone!

NOW you've officially finished the game! With the acquisition of the final stone, several secret doors within the village will now be available which will let you fight the bosses again for fun in any form you choose.

Mummy Dragon – Enter the door that leads to the beach. Go to the left wall under the breakable block and press up.

Zombie Dragon – Enter the upper door at the base of the windmill. Jump up the spring block and stand directly beneath the door to the desert and press up.

Captain Dragon – Enter the upper door at the base of the windmill tower. Jump up the ledge on the left and press up.

Daimyo Dragon – Enter the base of the windmill tower. Go to the left well and press up.

Vampire Dragon – Exit the top of the windmill tower and jump right as if you were heading to the Desert. On the first two blocks of that platform, press up.

    Heart Locations

    2) Desert - In the Sphinx on the left side of the pyramid in the Desert area

    6) The Village – As Hawk-Man, go to the Beach and go left one screen. Fly up through the ceiling to find a chest.
    7) In the last dungeon during Mouse-Man's part. When you drop down you'll be at a door. The chest with the heart is inside.
